The OOT and Asylum debacle. Follow

#1 Feb 07 2008 at 2:22 PM Rating: Decent
I have a suggestion.

I've come to terms with the idea that there is a majority of OOT'rs who need to post in the Asylum. They outnumber the current denizens of the Asylum population. Of course, they are being met with opposition on either side and I'm afraid you are going to lose more than a few loyal paying customers over the situation.

I suggest mentioning to the current Asylumites who refuse to conform to make a locked forum in a journal. That way there is less opposition to the merge and things will go alot smoother. The OOT can go back to "what's on your MP3 player" topics, and the Asylum population (Asylum regs and OOT converts)who stay can find a balance that works.

This works on several different levels.

1. Demea type fighting back will be squashed

2. Rate happy trigger fingers can save their sense of propriety by having their own forum/journal to post in.

3. The Asylum can be freed to have yet another reformation of purpose/use/players.

It's just a suggestion but in my opinion it would help.

Thanks,
Katie
#2AshOnMyTomatoes, Posted: Feb 07 2008 at 3:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Katie you are one of my favorite people now. People on both "sides" are being ridiculous and childish. We're having a little power struggle now, but its the first day. Two rather tight-knit groups of friends are (only kinda) being forced on each other, and thats never a smooth transition. I think the situation just needs a little time.

I hope it works. HONEST! I've not seen the Asylum this active in probably a year.

Which is a shame.

Can Katie's premium be charged by the word, say, 10 cents per? Then, at the end of the year, everyone who's had to read her posts gets a share.

So wait, lemme get this straight. People that are too rude, territorial and aggressive for OOT and who are angry at having their rude, territorial aggression moderated want the Admins to scold and moderate other rude, aggressive territorial people because the first batch can't handle the demeanor of the second batch?

Yeah, that totally makes sense.

Honestly? Most of the OoTers that are being asked to move couldn't care less. It's the ones who moved "with" because they like those people that are hissy fitting over it.

It's days like this that I'm glad I'm a WoW Boarder who visits the OOT often but tends to stay out of drama.

Im more of an OOT'er since GigglesThePig, who often visits the WoW forum, and I too tend to stay out of drama and heated arguments.

At least right now Im sure I wouldnt be able to hold the Asylum.

It's always the people with puny post counts that bring this up, true or not. Trying to make up for something?

Yes, the poor quality of your posts.

For what it's worth, I agree with the whole "quantity is not the same as quality". It takes a rare poster who can pull both off.

Namely, Anonymous.

I don't like to be rude, but Katie please don't be dumb.

Nothing needs to be regulated in regards to the OOT- Asylum situation. People are free to post where they choose. If the asylum is too boring to steal away certain posters from the OOT then either be more-entertaining-fasta-nao, let it be, or post in the OOT. No one "needs," to be posting anywhere specifically.

No customers are going to be lost because you are the only one who cares about this imaginary issue.

Yeah, I've had a bad day. :(
