There have been times when I have gone looking for other OOT (general topic) forums to read. This recent spate of DDOS attacks was another of those times. I had the same experience again, of either being downright repulsed by the layout of a forum, or else at best thinking "well, at least this one isn't too bad".
At their worst, other forums are downright hard to read. And/or they sacrifice a whole heap of space to blank space, without making it any more readable.
I've been here long enough to see this site go through at least three different incarnations of shading, font and layout. I really appreciate the care and effort that has gone into this, and that this is a place with ongoing upgrades. Recent events have left me with a new appreciation of how pleasant, and more importantly, how easy on the eye and readable this place is.
I also have a new appreciation for being able to have 100 posts per page. It works very well here, and is very important to me now, for keeping the flow of a "conversation", and also for giving me a large selection to choose from all at once. 100 posts or forum-topics per page means not having to load up a fresh page very often, and on a slow connection, that is crucial.

That's what I've always said about Alla compared to other forums, aka KI, etc.
I don't know whats with peoples obsession for KI or other sites where the forums are utter trash, and it takes 10 minutes to load a page.
Although, for some reason, Alla almost never works for me past 11:30PST.

I honestly can't stand KI, or the Wiki forums, or any of those...I only use BG when I am forced to for endgame reasons.
Alla is simply the (surprisingly) most friendly community around for players, and I ultimately feel like a big family for us all!
Keep up the good work developers/Admins, we're truly grateful.

Ahh, good ol' Allakhazam. The ugly duckling that rose to become a giant ugly duck.
I remember advertising in guild and party chat whenever I had the chance. Go to Allakhazam instead of Thottbot, fool. It's the most awesome site ever. And so on. Now I have to search far and wide if I am to find a player who doesn't know about Allakhazam.
Allakhazam. The site with the difficult name. Probably one of the reasons so few morons come here. The ones that do usually clicked a link somewhere.
It gets me all nostalgic. *sniffles*
Does anyone remember the old layout? Before the brown and.. brown.. theme? Wasn't it blue and black or something like that?

I dunno, I use the FFXI theme. As far as I can remember, it's been blue/black for the past 3 years.

I find the LOTRO skin very elegant and easy on my eyes.
The important thing for me is the "easy on the eyes" bit. All the mid-tones for the backgrounds work well for me.
The white and gray of the plain OOT and Asylum skin I still find a bit glary now, if I go back to it, after having a few months with the LOTRO skin up. But it's still not as glary as most other forum sites with white backgrounds and lots of blank space.
I had to ask someone how to change skins recently, though -.-
At the moment I play both LOTRO and WOW, and I needed to swap between the two. It's not like my previous swaps, where I changed skins once every two years, as I changed MMORPGS.

Use the NEWS layout. Very nice grey and black.
