XPantivirus.com - POP up on your siteFollow

#1 Feb 28 2008 at 7:14 PM Rating: Good
On two occassions within this week, a new window pops up opening an installation dialog box for online scan at XPantivirus.com. It appears random and I am unable to repeat the pop up.

First occassion - while looking up spells.
Second occassion - while on items page with mouse on an item.

Please explain if this is intentional or has something malicous been imbedded into your site.

Thank you.

It's an ad that they're in the process of trying to stamp out from the rotation, and apparently aren't having much luck with.

Thank you. That clears it.

I know its there. I can't get it to load. and without knowing which banner ad is loading it, we can't kill it. if anyone sees this, please take a screenshot of the allakhazam page you are viewing at the time, right click on the page and go to view source, and save that text to a text file, then send both to kaolian@allakhazam.com and we will get it removed. It appears to be somewhat rare, so if you do see it, please help us kill it off. It is NOT intentional.

Working on running through ads right now and I'm noticing tower ads occasionally in the banner area.

I'll throw another 20 minutes' worth of F5 at this and post a list of ads that are having this sort of issue if the ad we're trying to squash doesn't show up in that time.

Edit: No such luck with having it show up, so the ad may be designed to only show up with IE, assuming that totally empty ad slots aren't supposed to be part of the rotation.

The one ad I can confirm that's got any sort of issue is #4334461 in the banner slot - it's either a tower ad, or they're doing something really, really wrong. There were a couple of others that I'd noticed prior to it but didn't take down numbers on, one of which was "Tickle the fat kid". Smiley: oyvey on behalf of Codyy there. Smiley: laugh

I had a friend with the XPA issue. Odds are, it's NOT a popup on this site that is your problem. XPA normally doesn't use ads. Odds are it's already on your system if you are seeing the box.
