Occured right after I posted in the thread. Firefox 1.5

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v493/Deadgye/wiwerd.jpg

edit: Didn't happen again after making another post, but that was in the ffxi thf forum as opposed to the ffxi main forum. I don't really expect the problem to repeat itself though.

I would suggest upgrading to Firefox 2.0.

Except for the part where it causes pages to be formatted incorrectly, apparently.

Is this where I go asylumite and bash you for making a retarded statement? I really don't want to. :/

There are way too many variables to just conclude by yourself that me using firefox 1.5 is the reason why i've had the page format itself incorrectly twice. If firefox 2.0 can revert the way it closes tabs back to how it worked in 1.5 then I'll switch. Until then I'll stay with what works best for me. (What i'm talking about is how there's an X on every tab instead of just one stational X. >.>;

Pardon my ignorance on the matter, but what exactly is wrong with having an X on each tab? Smiley: dubious

I personally don't have issues with it, seeing as I use Ctrl-T and Ctrl-W to open and close new tabs, and if it's because you can't select a new tab without hitting the X, either keep fewer tabs open, or try using Ctrl-Tab to circle through them?

Just a suggestion, but whatever makes you comfortable with the browser.

This happens to me fairly regularly (4-5 times a week), from both my work and home machines, both using FF2.0.0.12

It's for when I have 40+ tabs open at once for various reasons and exit them at a variable interval that has an average time of 5-10 seconds. When things are like that it's a lot easier for me to just have the mouse in my right hand in the same place and just click every couple of seconds as opposed to moving my right hand into a position to press ctrl+w that ends up feeling annoying for some reason.

That, and sometimes I click on a tab only to accidentally X it out.

ps. Did you know that ctrl+1, ctrl+2, etc switches between tab number 1, 2, etc?

It's still happening.. around once to twice per day. This time I clicked hide menu after it happened, expecting to be able to click show menu to get the menu back and have it fixed, but when the side menu disappeared it stayed "hide menu" and I was unable to get the menu to reappear until I refreshed and fixed the problem.

Are you using NoScript? Is it up to date? If so, have you tried resetting your whitelist? Sometimes popups can appear to come from a certain website but they actually come from adware that is installed on your computer. Have you scanned for ad/spy/malware recently?

Gotta hate those **** pop-ups, right? You click one link, ONE LINK, and before you know it, you've got twenty tabs of **** (with audio) running.

I'm not sure Mozilla actually tested the browser to see if it could run 40+ tabs, by the way. It's enough to give any browser a heart attack.

You guys seem to be under the impression that I'm getting pop-up problems. When I have more than 5 tabs open it's from my own actions and I want them open. When I have more than 20 open firefox isn't lagging. This thread was not made because of anything involving tabs or ads. This thread was made because I'm experiencing the problem in the picture posted in my first post.

I had the same problem using Firefox at work a couple times. It's like the forum post sizing thingy forgets that the side bar is there, and actually displays the post under the sidebar, as if it was not there.

Never had the issue in Opera that I use at home.

D'oh! Sorry about that. I saw the ad and didn't even look at the picture beyond that since I figured that it was the problem, given that the main reason I use Firefox is for NoScript to block ads.

Anyhow, I can't say I've ever had that problem before. What happens when you click "Hide Menu" above the sidebar?

I think in the "HELP" Menu, under "About Firefox" (Or something similar). It tells you the version of Firefox you are using.

It's the same in many programs, under the help menu is an "about" option that gives info about the software you are using (Version, Copyrights, support websites, etc).
