One of the annoying things about playing the game as a console user is you are unable to to take pictures of the equipment menu to put in blogs and such.

I had an idea the other day, it's a bit hard to explain so I'm going to do it with pictures.

At the moment equipment display looks like this, and can only be linked normally:
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/profile.xml?182623

My idea is to change how it looks so it's displayed exactly how it is in game.
I also thought it would be cool if while highlighting each item (See Fire Bomblet in pic) it showed the stats like it does when you highlight the word on the site.

Ignore the stats on the left side of the page, pld obviously can't use that stuff. :3

Why not just leave it the way it is, there's nothing wrong with it?
That brings me to main part of the idea. You may have noticed in the bottom of the first picture a box labeled embed which I shamelessly stole from youtube.

I was hoping you could give us the option to embed the picture onto other sites, it would let us show off our gear and give you guys some free advertising.

Here's the part that would go on our personal sites:

I'm not sure how much work would be involved to set this up but I've always wanted someone to do something like this and thought it might be a way for you to get more customers as well.

I completely concur with your suggestion.

Although it's more likely to be a premium feature.

You can currently embed the existing profile onto another site using an iframe. Also, the profile itself is xml. So if you wanted to use the data but display it differently it should be fairly easy compared to having to parse html.

iframe
XML

Basically, XML is the way it's described to the web browsers, iframe is placing it inside an existing webpage as a webpage itself.

Ah, I see what he meant.
I could probably embed it then but I wouldn't know how to rearange it.
It's cool if it's too much trouble to change everything, I thought it might be a pain but figured I'd give it a shot.

FFXIAH does exactly what you said (though I don't know about the embed), I've coded a page that does the same, so obviously the staff here could do it if they decided to. The issue isn't with the pain in doing it, but the reason behind doing it. If you can convince them that it improves the site (see: Wikibase, something about foods) it will get done. Until then it's something that takes time just to look different.

With that said, I do think this should be implemented, at least in part. I'm not worried about embedding the character profile into a webpage, but it would be nice to have it look more like the ingame equipment screen (I think the WoW profile does this, but I'm not really familiar with the other skins and game profiles).

Well the idea was their logo would be at the bottom (maybe with even a link to the site) and they would get free advertising on every site it was embedded on.

That would in theory give them more customers and maybe more people wanting to place adds.
