New ad, or something on my PC?Follow

Was just scrolling topics in the WoW forums, when my browser shrunk and became a popup that said something like "Your computer is running slow; download PC Optimizer now!" with a Yes or No button. I clicked the X in the upper-right-hand side, but instead of closing, the window went to the PC Optimizer page, which I then hurriedly X'ed out of.

Was this an ad? I have another browser page open, and the only one that was affected was the Allakhazam page. If not an ad, any recommendation on how to scan my PC and get rid of a potential keylogger/virus?

That's an ad, an annoying one too. My advice, get Firefox with Ad-Block Plus and NoScript add-ons and that'll solve your problems. As long as you didn't click on any links or anything on the page you should be safe. I suggest running a AV and Spyware/Ad-aware scan just to be safe.

If you see any annoying ads on here,:

On firefox: right click, view source, and post the result here

In IE: View >> Source, copy and paste

Admins will know right away which ad to target and then swing the mighty banhammer of happy thoughts!

Or look here: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=3;mid=1207324744284516508;num=0;page=1

One of the admins stickied something!

Also, with those types of ads, they will put a faux X for you to click on. You will be safe if you close those either through the task manager or right click -> close on your start bar.

Those are alway funny to run in to on a mac.
