Advert placement on forums.Follow

yes I know I am not a paid member so not sure I should say anything but here goes:

There is an advert placed on the right side of the screen, problem is it often blocks the information I am looking up and makes it where I can not see parts. Is there a way this advert can be moved to allow us to fully see the information?

Thank you for your time

* I had posted this elsewhere but it was suggested I post here for admin to see..*

the advertisers got pissy when they found out that their adds were at the bottom of the menu, so no one ever really saw them. that's why they got moved to the upper right side.

what you should do instead of asking the admins to move the adds(they can't for business reasons, iirc), is download fire fox, as well as Noscript and adblock, which causes you to lose all sight of adds on every website.

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!

I never asked anyone to move them I am asking is there a fix besides dl another browser that I do not want to use?-maybe decrease the size of the information windows so they do not overlap..maybe adjust the size of the adds.

I do not know nor am I implying I do, I am merely coming forward with an issue that does not allow me to use the site as I am sure it is intended to be used but thank you for taking time to add your thoughts

I guess I read that the wrong way then. I was just telling you what I'm sure more people will reply with. (you'll also get some "buy premium" most likely)

Also, make sure that you look through the How to Report Bad Ads sticky. While the ads are not "bad content", they are broken.

Is the problem consistent or does it only happen sporadically? If it is sporadically, then it may be a problem with an ad that needs to be reported.

The problem has started I guess in the last month or so..use to the add was there but was not blocking things.

I shall go read the how to report bad adds

Sorry if I posted in wrong place..someone suggested I post here..

Thanks for your help

PS I have sent in the required information and a screen shot to the listed email.

Again I thank you and wish you both a pleasent day

PS as for becoming a paid member. I know that would remove adds, they do not bother me and I have actually clicked some to help the site, however since it is not a requirment to use the site and anyone can access the informaion I wanted to let them know and try to find a fix.

PSS Who knows I may end of buying membership sometime soon :D I do like this site

No, this is the right place. The admins just haven't been by yet and these daywalkers haven't had their coffee yet.

I hope so.

We're talking $3 a month here.

It's well worth it.

Honestly, when my premium lapsed last time...

Within two days I was out getting it again because I didn't realize how much I took the small things (like no ads) for granted on this site.

It's well worth it, if you use this site for MMO gaming information at all.

Bumping because I have same problems. I read this forum at work while things are compiling, and I keep the window somewhat small to avoid detection <__< Firefox is not an option for me.

Anyways, about 50% of the time the advertisement on the right side is placed overlapping the right side of the thread. Hitting refresh can fix it such that the thread overlaps the advertisement instead, but it's random (afaik) and sometimes takes a lot of refreshing.

We're having the devs look into it. If you see that again, some screenshots along witht he specific page you are viewing URL would be helpful.

I'd just like to say that our ads should never be covering site information, so there is nothing wrong with reporting it because it is not supposed to be that way. I wish certain users (TO REMAIN UNNAMED) who should know better wouldn't be so aggro about issues like this. Smiley: glare
