It may be that the rest of the site is like this as well, I just happened to notice it on the WoW Guides category page.

Is there any way it can be coded to ignore "A" or "The" at the beginning of a page name?

As an example: "A paladin's Buide to uncrush" is listed under "A". Technically that's the case but in most indexing (and I mean that in the severe-bunned, sensible-shoed librarian sort of way, not the technology sort of way) ignores these sorts of terms because they're really not meaningful for someone looking to find something.

Probably not... but the better answer is probably to remove any variation of "A", "An" or "The" from the name of the Guides. I mean, "A Paladin's Guide to Uncrushability" in the title bar of a Wiki isn't quite as neat as "Paladin's Guide to Uncrushability".

Actually, it IS possible. I remember having a conversation with rale about this, before. At Wikia we had a template, called AAnThe, that would strip the leading insignificant words before indexing but that won't work here as it used a couple of MediaWiki extensions we don't have here. The best way, here, is to have the devs modify the indexing code on the categories so that it strips them before indexing. I willmention this to rale, again, and see if I can get an idea of when this can be done.

On a similar note, eventually rale is going to add a nav-bar on the category pages with hot-jumps to A-Z, and move all category pages up so that subcategories list first, and then normal articles. Both of these will make navigation a lot easier.
