Overall, I pleased with the rework. As a web developer, I tend to be picky about some things (and less so about others). In my work, I am required to follow ADA (Americans With Disabilities) guidelines and law. Those guidelines and laws are the kinds of things I get picky about. For example, public sites have to be accessible to people with various disabilities like blindness, or maybe someone doesn't have great motor skills. Yeah, I know this site is for gamers who are playing a game on a screen that you have to see, and have to use a mouse and keyboard pretty heavily. But hear me out...

One thing I've seen here that bothers me a bit is how tiny the text is, and it is not scalable by choosing a larger text size. I happen to also have trouble seeing small things so, of course, this bothers me on a personal level as well. So, while I have played WoW for over two years now, I can scale that to make it easier for me to see what I need to see. I would like to see the search box MUCH biggers (taller), with larger text, so I can see what I'm doing.

Having said that, I am very pleased with the site overall, and really appreciate having other links to go to if I need to check other places for more information (or even any information). This site is my home page, so you KNOW I love this place!

Thanks so much!

Lori

Hi Lori, my name is Lori also!

As for the text, I agree it's too tiny. I already got the link colored changed, working on sizing up text as my next whine. Smiley: grin

The font is different, but I don't believe it's significantly smaller than any of the font settings we're using for other sites.

The font used on the wow site is only a little taller and a little narrower.

I also tested zoom/scaling in a number of browsers and didn't run into any major problems. The zoom/scaling in ie7, firefox2, firefox3, opera, and safari all seemed to work, with firefox 3 and opera giving the best results and least distortion at higher zoom levels.

I like the font. Arial is usually much easier to read because it is sans serif (at least to me) so I'm real happy with the font itself. I am using IE7 and when I try to make the font size larger (or even largest), none of the text on the page changes. Am I missing something? Thanks for any help you can shoot my way. :-)

Holding down Ctrl while using the mouse's scroll wheel, or the +/- key on the Numpad will increase/decrease font size. Personally, I think the size is just fine and I'm using the "normal" size in Firefox 2.

What irks me, though, is the font type. Arial is just sooo.. ugh. You should try Verdana, just to see the difference. A wider font which is more symmetrical and harmonic to look at. I tried using Arial 9pt and Verdana 9pt in WordPad and the difference in a small line was incredible.

Try copying some of the text from here into WordPad or some other word processing program and first make it Arial 9pt, then Verdana 9pt.

Oh, and you added some extra space between the lines, didn't you?

Here's a screenshot of me experimenting with Arial and Verdana in WordPad. I haven't altered the resolution of the shot, so you're seeing what I'm seeing. Hmm, it seems the .bmp -> .jpg conversion messed up the quality a bit. Sorry about that.

I am very old school, I did spent 35+ years writing computer code and deveopling major systems.

I would never give any of my clients anything like this.
Hopefully you would be able to give your "clients" some better feedback.

old argument is old.
