Hello,

I am an Assistant Professor of Instructional Systems Technology at UNC-Charlotte. I am working with some colleagues of mine at Purdue University and Wake Forest University on a study examining how leadership qualities in an online community compare with those in the "real world". We are also looking at whether participation in a virtual community encourages or limits civic participation in the ’real’ world? Because we wanted to focus on MMORPGs, rather than just synthetic worlds, we chose WoW as our target MMORPG (the 'guild' structure was interesting to us). Consequently, we are trying to distribute a brief online survey to as many WoW players as possible. We were wondering if it would be possible to post the survey on the Allakhazam WoW forums.

I recently completed an interview that might answer any questions you have. The transcript is located here: http://education.uncc.edu/rhartsho/wow-interview.htm. Also, here is a link to the survey, in case you would like to look it over: http://www.surveyshare.com/survey/take/?sid=65142

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Richard

Yes, that would be fine. Thank you for checking first. Post your survey with a link referencing this thread so that people know it is legitimate. You'll get a much better response that way.
