Is it against the rules for somebody to make an account with the name of a ffxi player and post on the server forums pretending he's him?

The person who played the character no longer plays, but the person pretending to be him posting still posts and has ~141 posts now. It's just annoying seeing him belittle his name like that.

I know it's not him because one day ingame the player asked me to rate down the person pretending to be him on the alla server forums because that wasn't him. There's a chance I screenshotted said /tell but I doubt it.

Thats a complicated one. If someone has created a username specifically tp harrass someone, and that harrasment happens on the forum then we might be able to do something. If the extent of the annoyance was just the name creation, there would be much less we could do.

Basically what it comes down to is I usually can't really consider anything outside the forum when ruleing ont hings like that, because I have no time / way to verify the information. Your information is probably 100% accurate, but unless he has done something on the forum that would be a violation of forum rules, I can't really do a whole lot about it.

If there are objectionable forum posts I can take a look at them though if you like.

It does appear to be a sock though... shame really that a premium user would stoop that low.
