What has happened to this site? (was forum=21)Follow

#1 Oct 17 2008 at 2:44 PM Rating: Sub-Default
I used to trust Allakhazam with everything WoW related....quests, items, auction prices etc. Allakhazam is how I got my first toon to 70 in 25 days without a guild. I would always tell new players to use Allakhazam.

Now it seems the site has gone to hell.

Simple searches return no results. Quests are listed with no quest name making it near impossible to tell which quest is which. Item names are incorrect (I couldnt find Mageweave cloth in a simple search because for some reason its listed in the database as "weave cloth" wtf???).

Getting help from this site now is like pulling teeth. Are chimps running things now or what?

Guess I'll start using Thotbot instead =/

There has just been a major content patch. Things might be screwy for a day or two. Calm down, take a breath; everything is going to be okay.

Also: This belongs in Site and Feedback.

things are always crappy when in mid change.

cept for those cartoon girls who have costume change transformations.

that PPG anime version is an exception to the exception though.

Rather than a generalized complaint that doesn't actually tell us anything, outside the mageweave issue, you might want to be a little more specific. Frankly, much as I like to help, I really cannot look to get it fixed if I don't know specifically what's broken for you beyond that.

Oh, I checked into the Mageweave issue, it is being worked on and the devs are aware of it. This kind of stuff happens from time to time. Have patience.

Do not anger the Wordaen.

His Ban Cannon is mighty.

Both item and quest issues are resolving themselves as we speak.

Sometimes we don't notice things break right away and it needs to be brought to our attention.

When I run a search it makes this pinging sound. I think your muffler bearings are going out.

p.s. A friend of mine has a pretty funny true story about a blonde and her 'muffler bearings' going out on her car and how they got fixed. If anyone really wants to hear it I might post it.

That was just a lowbrow attempt to derail the thread, MF. In light of that, I think we should all ignore it and force you to try again some place else.

OP, are you still out there, or was this a "I'm taking my things and leaving" thread?

Well it's funny and a true story. You sure you don't want to hear it?

Im sorry, I didnt mean to to sound insulting but I was frustated. Every time I've come to this site in the last couple weeks to get info I end up hitting a brick wall of broken stuff.

Apart from the mageweave issue the only other specifics I can really give are typing in keywords to search for basic items or quests and getting no results. These are not new items or quests that I was searching for.

Example: tried to search for a few quests in Hillsbrad foothills but no results were found for the names of the quests (even after checking for spelling errors several times). So I went to the "quests" tab and decided to look at the list of quests in Hillsbrad but almost all the quests on the list had no name making it pretty much impossible to find the quests I was looking for.

Things like this have been happening quite frequently in the last few weeks.

I dont troll forums so thats not what this is about. In fact I believe this is my first forum post Ive ever had in the 15 months Ive been using Allakhazam.

I dont want to use a different site for WoW info but if I cant get it here then what other option do I have?

If this has been happening for weeks nobody else has noticed it or told any of the programmers about it. We can't fix things if we're not told when they break. Specifics make our job a lot easier, too. Specifics such as you were searching for the quest "All Along the Watchtowers" and no results where found but there should be! are easy for me to track down.

Feedback on sites should also be put in our feedback forum. I don't check every forum. I do check feedback every few hours at least, though. As do a lot of others.

Guess who runs the site? Users. Guess who's fault it is that things aren't getting fixed? Yours. Do your part and report stuff, monkey dong.

Gonna take your toys and go home? Oh, wait, see, you can't. Alla will fix their ****, and will still be THE best resource, and you will find yourself crawling back to them, even though your google may give you thott or whatever.

There are big changes going on, and, like it or not, you'll come back. Oh yes you will. The infoz is laid out too well, and your frowny indicated that you don't like thott much.

So, dontletthedoorhityouintheassseeyousoon. :)

Nizdaar, I appreciate your response and the responses from other members of the staff. I'm sorry I posted this in the wrong forum but, like I said, Im not familiar with the forums here and didnt notice there was a "site fedback" forum. I'm assuming this thread will be moved there by someone who has the power to do so. I'm sure there are others who have found errors like this but were too frustrated to take the time to post their problem in the forums or just went elsewhere to find an answer to what they are trying to accomplish. I took the time to post because I like this site and wanted to know what was up...though, admittedly I may have went about it the wrong way.

I gave the specifics that I could remember but I did quite a few searches and cannot remember all of them. I will attempt to post further errors I find to the feedback forum.

To "Mentalfrog", although I agree that it is helpful for visitors to post specific errors for the staff to track down, I do not agree that it is the end user's responsibility to fact check the sites they visit....just like its not up to the Mcdonald's customers to clean the bathrooms and cook the food. If someone provides a service I believe it is their responsibility to ensure that service works correctly. I understand that this is a buisy time with all the new content but I do not understand why this would effect info in the database that has supposedly been here since before TBC.

To Trilliandent, this isnt about taking my toys and going home...its about finding another place to get info if I cant get it here. You're right I don't like thottbot much. From what Ive seen I dont like the format they run but I've been finding info there that I could not find here lately. As I said before I've been a fervant fan of Allakhazam for many months and have sent many new users here and think the staff has done a wonderful job...which is why these many recent errors have me so suprised and frustrated.

and to all you trolls who hang out in forums like this day after day just waiting for any chance to insult and berate someone like me who has a legitimate complaint...

kiss my a$$

The difference is, when you go to McDonald's, you're paying someone to clean your **** off the toilet seats. Lighten up, would ya?

The site feeback forum is the right place to post issues like this. Yes, we may not be happy to hear something is broken and we do understand when people are angry, it's pretty normal. So while people may rate you down, telling us here with as much detail as you can helps us get to the issue faster. If you need to vent a little, no problem, just give us a heads up first so we know what the deal is. Or you can PM me directly with issues. It may take time to get them fixed but the admins are always here to help out when we can.

However, i don't know that I know you well enough to kiss your a$$ Smiley: grin

Your approach was very offensive toward the Admins. Guns blazing. "What has happened to this site?"

You have 17 posts under yer belt there, Spanky. You may find this a surprise, but they GIVE you this info for free. "Free," Spanky, meanz you ain't gotta pay fer it!

NOW! Get out there and be the best whatever you can be!

Love,
~Bun
