News goes unnoticed, gets repeated in WoW General.Follow

I'm not sure if this has been posted about before (searched first 500 posts for titles with 'news' in them, no luck) but a common theme on the WoW General board over the last few months has been people posting info that had already been covered on the main page, then getting flamed by people saying 'it's on the main page, noob'. I was just wondering how hard it would be for an admin to post the news article on the WoW General board at the same time as they put it on the main page.

I'm one of the many people who has the general forum bookmarked, so I never see the main page. There's an awful lot of us who do this, and I can't see us changing our behaviour any time soon. The only issues I could see with this are that it would take extra time for the admins to do this, and it would lead to two threads on the same topic, which seems unnecessary. One option would be to prevent people from replying to the main page story, but link them to the general board topic, but I'm still not sure how much extra work this would cause for the admins, so I came here to ask if this sort of thing would be feasible.

It's not that easy. The news section and the forums use totally different formatting. Our "part time" admins WoW side do not just do news, they also update wiki and the database. What I want is an option to flag a news story to show up in the proper forum. Not all news needs to hit the forum.

Most of the WoW admins are trained to link to the forum in a news story if there is a thread already, or to make one for discussion if it's to be huge, like the patch etc.

We really just need Tovin to work harder...

Oh, wow. Love from an admin is really nice, but love from Maz too? I've hit the big time now :D

I figured it wouldn't be a really simple solution, otherwise it'd already have been done. Thanks for explaining it a bit better, Darq. Now whip Tovin more :P
