I'm not sure if this is actually an issue or what, and certainly not urgent but I have noticed that sometimes on a thread I'll have 'Never Filter' on because I'll notice that something has been filtered and want to see what the idiot did to get sub-defaulted and at the bottom of the page it will still say X message(s) filtered.
I was just wondering whether:
a) this is just someone having been banned and it is filtering out on purpose, or Wordean hit them so hard with the banstick that they're post disappeared into the interwebz.
b) there is nothing there and my firefox is playing silly buggers with me.
c) something's going wrong.

Not urgent, just curiosity and the possibility of missing out on the odd post to laugh at.
Have a nice night.

Oh, and congratulations on Obama.

Edit: no sooner had I posted this than I noticed at the bottom of the Site-Feedback forum itself, with 'Never Filter' on, that 6 Messages skipped by filter settings, 48 displayed. was at the bottom of my page.

You are not alone in this.

I always assumed that these were the people that went beyond sub-default, and had actually reached the infamous "no rate" status.

Though most times I would still like to see what the idiot said. If it's "Never Filter", than it should never filter.

Messages that are rated below Sub-default (aka Unrated) or made by users who are banned, or if the post has been deleted from the forums, will still not show up.

Ah I see, in the way that even if you have a filter on when you open a sub-default thread, the sub-default or banned post will still show up if it is the first post? If so thanks for clearing that up.

To clarify a couple of things in this response:

"Unrated" posts have a karma number (yes, the numbers still exist, you just can't see them... quit pestering the admins about that) of between 0.00 and 0.50. (Maybe -0.50 is the lower end. I'm not entirely sure about that, beyond that it extends up to 0.50.)

Posts from banned users, and nuked posts (the forum system does not actually allow for deleting posts!), have a negative karma score. If memory serves, it's normally -25.00.

When we nuke a post it achieves the mystical number of -50.00. Too many of those and a wormhole to Cleveland is opened up, it isn't a pretty sight...

Unrated. That's the word I couldn't think of (my "no-rated").

I know BANNED is gone, and typically, I have no interest in seeing a banned post, because it's likely spam, a link I don't want, or someone who is so incredibly stupid, my dogs **** would rate higher on the food chain.

Unrated however, is still a user-moderated post. And though they're bad enough to reach unrated status, they still are just above that dog **** I mentioned before, and there are times when I'd like a good laugh at someone's expense and be able to read their dribble. This is where I think never filter should actually never filter.

Oh, and I wouldn't mind seeing Cleavland, but just once.

I saw it once before I was an admin. It wasn't a pretty sight. I've not been the same since... Smiley: cry

Actually, I've been going through the same thing.

The thing is that the way the karma system is currently setup, you don't need an admin for a post to hit that negative status. It sort of makes "Never Filter" a little useless. =\

I think the best way around this would be that we can see negative rated posts as long as the user isn't flagged as Banned or the post has more than -25.00, since an admin nuke, like mention, is always -50.00.

Ironically enough, I was just going to make a thread on this. Smiley: laugh

It especially sucks when you're probably used to being able to see everything.
