Some sort of LGBT code word I'd guess.

So what would be the difference between Josei and Shoujo?

Josei is for more mature ladies.

Umm... Figure 17 is about a girl who fuses with an alien bio suit, and that alien copies her DNA and becomes basically a clone of her. They fuse together into an ultimate fighting being in order to battle against an invading alien force.

Crap. I'm talking about the gymnastics one. It came out around the same time as Figure 17 so I always get them mixed up because I saw ads for them both about the same time. And now I can't remember the name of it . . .

There's also Yawara! A Fasionable Judo Girl, which was basically a year long commercial for the 1992 olympics.

Edit: Speaking of josei, my fiance wrote a term paper on Ebichu the Housekeeping Hamster. I think he decided that Ebichu was basically the Office Lady's id, who was able to do and say all the things that OL herself was not, like make fun of her boyfriend and eat ice cream out of the carton.

Is 148 yes votes enough for a new forum? Considering this is in =3, I'd say this is an astonishing reponse.

edit: clarity

We could run it out to 50-odd pages and start page claiming again.

It's how we got the FFXI server forums, after all.

Anime does cover a very large audience and a majority of our MMORG's do have anime influences. I do hope more people vote.

I don't know why anyone would be against this. People post about it anyways and this would keep it out of view from the people who don't like seeing it. It defies logic to say no.

World of Warcraft, however, was influenced by Scooby-Doo.

I don't really like anime, but I think it's deserving of a forum.

There are many issues besides simply having a lot of people saying they would be for it. I think we've shown in a short amount of time that it is something that is desired, with varying degrees of intensity and reasoning. It's up to the admins now to consider the logistics and degree of difficulty in making and maintaining the forum, and (if Kao's posting in another thread is any indication of the process) to vote on it as a collective administrative body. I don't expect a final answer until next week probably, which is fine. I'm just glad that so many people came to =3 just to vote or voice their opinions, whatever they may be.

Corrected! Being engaged to someone with their PhD in anime nerd-dom is handy.

Kalaido Star is the series about circus gymnastics. Not to be confused with Ginban Kalaidoscope, the series about figure skating, which actually does have some fantasy elements to it (the ghost of a boy stunt plane flyer or something ends up coaching the young Olympic hopeful girl.)

Support an Anime board?

Sure. :D
#122REDACTED, Posted: Dec 01 2008 at 11:13 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I voted no - would rather not have the chan crowd prowling around here being the chan crowd once they get wind of a fresh anime forum to troll.

I didn't read through everything, but I agree about this:

Quote:

I'm really against it because A) alla's general lack of authority on the topic

Seriously. If you invite all of the anime crowd here, you will end up with having to deal with cp. Don't believe me? Send me a pm and we'll talk (admin only). I'm not saying that all, or even most anime fans are 'those kinds of people' but a lot of them are. -points to 4chan ref above- And, you can hang out and say whatever, we didn't see it, but it will be on your servers, and guess who will go to jail. Not me. :)

So, alla, if you decide to do it, you're opening yourself up to a, more manpower to deal with it and b, liability, baby, oh yes. You can smoke that in your pipe.

So, that's my vote; I think you can figure it out.
