I saw that thread and I think there were a few of us rating some things down just because the topic is so old and everyone is divided on it anyway. I mean, look at your poll results. Probably not what you were expecting, and I imagine that the ratings rose and fell accordingly.

What I was expecting and the actual results of the poll are, have little to do with each other.
A poll is just another tool for us to use in order to gather everyone's preferences/thoughts into one place.
I wasn't going to say anything at all about my own posts, but everyone else's posts are getting rated down just for sharing their own opinions.
While I agree the rating system exists in order for us to show displeasure or agreement to another poster, blanket rate-downs are frowned upon.
That's all I wanted an admin to check. Thanks for your time.

Posters A and B will rate a post down that Posters C and D rated up. Then Posters C and D will rate a post down that Posters A and B rated up. Then there is just occasional random ratings in one way or another from various other posters. There is not really any camping going on in the thread in one direction or the other by any single poster. It's a hot topic and people who have a side on it feel very strongly about it.

Why can't people disagree, and still accept that the others point is well thought and written even though they don't like it, and not rate it at all.
Save the rate downs for spam and stupid, not because you just don't like what their opinion.

Because I could give a rat's butt about Karma. I do, however, prefer when people can be mature about a discussion or disagreement, rather than act like a 4th grader.
