Hi admins/folks,
In this thread: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fjob=13;mid=122915952024004153;page=1 I feel like I got bashed for just asking a question. The more I defended myself, the more I got bashed. I think the thread is finally dead (thank god), but is there anything I can do about my karma?
Can an admin take a look at the thread and decide if I really deserved all the rate downs I got, and possibly fix it? I don't think I did anything worthy of all the critisizm I received, except *maybe* when I started fanning the flames by posting purposely mispelled words and egging people on, because at that point things were seriously out of hand and no one was listening or intelligently responding to what I was saying.

They will probably tell you "Karma is working as intended". Good or bad, people who have the ability to rate can do so at their discretion.
At some point we all realize that it has no way of stopping us from posting (even people at Sub-D can post) and many who do have the ability to rate, don't even really bother using it.
The only thing that can be done about your karma is within actions taken by you. You have such a low post count it isnt hard to earn karma back but you have to take responsibility for your actions.

First off, you already asked a similar question about this thread and you were already told we do not adjust karma because people disagree with you, short of karma camping. And there is none of that going on. Sorry, not gonna happen.
Second, in the first three pages, I see just as much obnoxious behavior from you as I do other posters. Doesn't matter who started it, you are just as responsible for aggravating the drama. If I were to adjust your karma, I would have to adjust the other 4 or 5 people. Sorry, that's not gonna happen. Learn from your mistakes or post differently if you don't like how people respond to you. Frankly, all of you should take 5 minutes, chill out and agree to disagree with each other, it's really not that critical.
Third, the karma system IS working as intended on that thread. Your responses and rating are a direct result of two things. Your rising to the bait and your attempting to troll people who disagree with you for whatever reason.

Maybe I'm a pessimist, but I've done tons of work and provided lots of useful information on many different jobs within FFXI and I'm still at default level. I share the opinion of many other people who feel that the karma system is flawed.

I held my temper for quite a long period of time and tried to be constructive, and the people in there just kept bashing me without making sense. When I "sank to their level" (started saying silly thing, etc.) they just kept it up and got nastier.
From what you are telling me, I guess I'll just blow the whistle next time instead of trying to do something positive. It's sad that those forums are such. Didn't used to be like this, three+ years ago.

Regardless, in this thread, it is working as intended. Stop reacting to posts intended to get under your skin (because everyone there knows they are) and you will start to see a change in your rating history. Ask any of the regulars and they will tell you the same thing. The more you dance, the more a string is pulled.
edit - hmm, could swear you posted about this because I specifically remember this particular thread and issue. Might have been someone else. Bah, my error on that part but the rest still applies.

Don't fight the karma system, use it. Just post a bunch of popular drivel in the game feedback forum, and you will get your KarmaBow in no time. Karma doesn't reflect the quality of your posts, it reflects your ability to suck up to the masses. Just post some 3 paragraph story about how you wanted to be a taru instead of a galka, so SE should add race changes. Gets em anytime! Just make sure there isn't someone doing the same thing in the last 50 threads though.
