Suggestion: Red flag thread buttonFollow

Im sure this has been suggested before but can we implement some "Flag this post for admins" button? So when these annoying virus spamming threads appear we can alert admins at the click of a button?

And of course having repercussions for abuse of said button.

(Maybe when you click the button it can take you to a short page explaining in what cases the button is appropriate and repercussions for abuse, followed by a "Yes flag this thread" confirmation button at the bottom.)

Maybe even have it temporarily remove all the links from the post. Then it would be safe, but in the case of abuse, it wouldn't remove the thread or anything.

Good thinking. It would definitely solve my main concern which is noobs clicking these links before they can be removed. People losing their accounts means less people using these forums, so it makes good business sense for zam to implement this kind of feature.

I think it would be better to have a minimum post count before you can post links. And most of us stop by here or our preferred game forum first thing, so it's taken care of as soon as one of us gets there. What use is it to flag for an admin if there isn't one here?

Well, he forgot to mention that with this feature they'd install strobe lights and alarms in all of your homes and they'd go off to get your attention. There would also be a callbot in place you call all of your home and cell phones. Smiley: grin

I think Cody's idea about turning off links in a flagged post while waiting admin review would be great. Then you guys can check it when you come around, but in the meantime nobody would fall into the trap.

As for the minimum post count thing, seems a lot of the accounts that posted today had at least 50 posts to their names. Seems to me they would just reach the minimum post count and then post the links anyway.

There are a few forum brats that have my cell number, I have actually gotten a text before for spam. I also had to turn my skype off for that same reason. I ALWAYS check this forum first thing every time I am on the site and periodically throughout the day. My IRC is always on as well and you can always find an admin through there. We prefer this forum though. Smiley: grin

I talked to the programmer and turning links off would deter legit posters from posting and we do not want that. At this time, karma and putting links in the feedback forum are your best bets and the fastest way to get things taken care of.

you could always hire an EU admin for those wee hours in the morning between your late night admins falling asleep, and your early morning admins getting up Smiley: lol

Am I the only one who clicked on this thread expecting actual baby photos [of Jinte]? o.O

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!
