Is there a reason that winners from outside of the US can't get their prize? I understand Europe, but come one, Canada is like the 52nd state.

Reading is your friend, not only is this the 2nd post on this subject this week, it's all here in blue and white from the Contest Rules:
Quote:
4. Eligibility. The contest is open to legal residents of all 50 states plus the District of Columbia of the United States of America who are over 18 years of age. We wish we could include users from all over the world, but unfortunately we simply can't possibly satisfy the contest rules and regulations of every government around the world. Anyone who is is or has been within the last 6 months an Employee or consultant of Allakhazam.com, Zam Media or any affiliated sites is not eligible to win. Immediate family and household members of such individuals are also not eligible to win. Prizes will only be shipped to addresses within the U.S. and if your name is drawn, you must provide a name and address within the U.S. for shipping or be disqualified.

Yeah, s'how it was back when I won that thing. Too bad, really. I would have thought someone had come up with some way to include the other half of Allakhazam's posters by now.

That's a real shame... I mean, not even Canada?

What if I sent you a ham sandwich in the mail?

What if I send him a ham sandwich in the mail? I'll even put mayonnaise on it.

Seriously though, thanks for the reply. I understand why, I just don't like winning something only to be told that I can't claim the prize.

Why'd they even send out wins to people from out of the States? Aren't our addresses attached to our accounts?

I don't blame ya, I do not know why we didn't offer a year prem as an option, but it's probably a monetary issue, taxes and that kind of crap.

Even we were able to open the contest up to Canada, we'd still have to disqualify anyone who live in Quebec. They have some fairly strict rules about contests.

I'd be fine with that.

Easy solution:

Alternative prizes to non-colonials. Some sort of special priviliege on the site, for instance, like bigger imagestorage capacity or something like that. Or like DQ mentioned, free Premium for six months or something like that. Hell, get ahold of Danalololog and have him construct new custom titles for the winners from outside colonial lands. Just a little something to soften the disappointment from going "Wow! I won, I wonder what prize I'll... err... Great, I won bupkiss apparently..."

And yet- you managed it easily enough for the egg contest, which is labelled as worldwide (even though us poor europeans can't win the security token, for some odd reason).

They are different.

10th anniversary is sponsored by Zam Network in California.

VS.

Egg contest prizes are mostly premium and items donated from SE.

Well, I was under the impression there was one. I just pulled examples out of my ***** mostly.
But the point's still there. If the real prizes can't be shipped, why not hand out something that doesn't have to be shipped anywhere? Some website feature would do well, I'd think.

All we check is the shipping address. Make some US friends you trust?

Eh, it'd still cost more to get the thing shipped on our own expense than the thing is worth, usually.
Besides, most of the Colonials I know of are OoTers and I wouldn't trust one of them with my address unless I lived in a Bond style supervillain fortress.

No way, I'd have to learn to spell a whole different way, and I can barely spell in English as it is . English English I mean. Not US English .

Admittedly my poor spelling is usually a result of me being drunk/tired, but I refuse to spell badly while people mock my 'adorable' British accent and ask me if I know the queen.

Oh, and thanks DF, it makes a little more sense now that you explain the Zam sponsership :P
