Accountability - Red and Green ArrowsFollow

There are posts about it often, people ***** inside posts about it even more, but rate-downs seem to be an allah plague.

I propose in order to rate up or down you must contribute to the conversation, thereby subjecting yourself to the same red or green arrow. I'd be willing to bet there would be alot more legitimate answers and less posts drove into oblivion by those who wish to just surf the forums and rate down anything that they think they know more about. I hate seeing posts pushed into sub-default when they were legitimate opinions, however varying from the mass-bandwagon-leet-train of thought.

The most commonly brought up problem with this is that it would require bumping of idiotic, trolling or spam-based threads simply to be able to rate them down.

Correct and Allah might smite us. We here at Alla don't like idiotic, trolling or spam-based threads.

If it weren't for rate downs, you would actually be able to read Virus's posts. Do you want that? DO YOU!?

Confirmation box would be nice. It doesn't happen often, but have accidentally hit the wrong one, or either one, as I wasn't planning on rating a post, just mouse happen to be over the buttons, when I accidentally clicked.

Hell no. There's few things I hate more than having the focus taken away from a page unnecessarily, and adding something redundant because you once in a while rate a post the wrong way is just irritating. Besides, we had a system like that before the arrows. The only issue I find with the new system is that it will still occasionally rate in the wrong direction, for no fathomable reason. (And no, it's not someone else rating between when I entered and when I rated.)

To the OP: Quit deserving to get rated down, and you will quit being rated down. Barring the ability to measurably improve your writing style (or learn what you're talking about), quit caring about it, and you'll be much better served in the end.

It was meant to be a cure for many things, including, <edit> what I thought was </edit> the OPers color blindess issue, although the arrows are up and down, but even without being color-blind, I had to wait for the mouse over text to be sure, before I used custom colors here. A confirmation box takes much less time to click than having to wait for mouse-over text to appear, in general. My inconvenience versus yours.

Sorry a suggestion, is so annoying you have to rate me down, when it seems perfectly acceptable suggestion. Just one you apparently, vehemently disagree with. And, this thread is not even being looked at by most people, since it has been sub-default since about 10mins after I posted the suggestion.

And yes, making services more accessible to all, will lead to inconveniences for some. So you can continue on your hate fest, instead of just stating why you wouldn't like it, or offering up a reasonable alternative to solve the issue.

And yes, the OPers solution was horrible, but even then I didn't rate him down, <edit> as I thoguht it was about something else, </edit> it was the issue that was more important. Bad ideas coem from everywhere, but that doesn't lower the importance of the issue. Also, there is more than jsut red-green colorblindess, if someone of impportantance is actually reading this, and planning on changing the colors of the icons.

**** EDIT ****
And see there's my visual problem kicking in again, as I swore this thread used to say Accessibility - Red and Green Arrows, not Accountability. And now I see why you would of thought it, so horrid, thinking I aggreed with the OPer, but no, I thought the main reason was accessibility and not feedback. Although feeback is nice, when it's constructive, the general feedback you get here is very much not, whenever you even get any.

Again, my post was about Accessibility, as I have little concern most of the time, for why I get rated up or down, except on the rare occasiion, that's it not obvious to me ... this thread is an example of that, but I've cleared it up myself and now see why you thought I needed rated down, as the original topic, wasn't what I thought it was, and I didn't refer to what I was thinking, eventhough, I kept thinking to myself, I should have, even before I realized the OPers topic wasn't what I thought it was. My thinking, was they wanted to do something about Accessibility, and just used the problem, as way to promote another agenda with a relatable solution.

A) The majority of the readers on this site are, statistically speaking, not color-blind, and should not be inconvenienced so drastically because you can't figure out that
B) The green arrow's on the left, and points up. The red one's on the right, and points down. If you can't hold onto that long enough to do some rating, then you probably aren't the sort of person who ought to be rating here in the first place. There is absolutely no accessibility issue with the rating system, and it's ludicrous that you somehow imagine there is. Most likely you just have a personal crusade with regards to colorblindness, that has no place in trying to sway the administrators of this site.

And yes, I rated your post down. That's what you do in Feedback forums when you think posts are a bad idea, because that's the entire point of the rating system, to let people know which posts are really worth listening to.

Can someone tell me how being colorblind mixes someone up from UP and DOWN arrows? I kind of figured the arrows would be self explanatory.

For the time being, we will not require you to post to be able to rate, if something changes we will let you know.

Thanks for all your replies and suggestions.
