FFXIV Post Text DisappearingFollow

#1 Jul 22 2009 at 3:25 AM Rating: Good
I'm finding that while browsing the FFXIV boards from work, random posts will require me to select/highlight post text for it to be visible, and upon scrolling it will become invisible again. The problem seems isolated to the msgContentFrame class, as none of the other post text (name/signatures/info/etc.) do it. I also seem to not be able to select (selection drag) more than a single character while editing/creating/replying post data...although I don't know why that is as it's the first time I've seen an error like that. It's isolated to form textbox area's, as I can select more than one character outside of form textboxes

I, unfortunately, have to live with IE 6.0.2 at work as I cannot upgrade the browser on my workstation PC. All these problems seem isolated to using this version of IE on my workstation PC. I haven't noticed any problem on my home PC at all, which has the latest IE, Firefox, and Chrome browsers. Just FYI...I'm sure it's not priority to fix, but it's a slight annoyance as I mainly browse the boards at work.

Edit: Just to clarify. Only happening on FFXIV site. Happens on both light & the new dark skin.

Can you give any example threads where this is happening? I'm having trouble finding it happening on my IE6.

Literally? It's happening in this post (under the FFXIV dark skin) except ironically, if I have your post anywhere near the bottom, say, 2 inches of the browser window near the status bar, the text shows. Once it gets above that point (ie. I scroll down) the text disappears. It almost seems like something with an "absolute" positioning in the CSS is "covering" it, or at least doing some sort of alpha blend over the text.

Also, if you use a browser that's not maximized (again, IE6) and then maximize it...if you restore it to the size you were using while posting, the TextBox field for entering your post/reply doesn't resize back to the size on restore, nor does the full layout...so it's not reactively resizing the sites layout to the browser in-session. If that makes any sense.

Edit: Again, this is not in every post. Also, I still cannot select more than a single character in the TextBox form field when posting/replying useing the cursor. I can Shift+select using the arrows, but cannot use the cursor. And just so you know, I'm using a CAD workstation (Dell T5400) with one of those fancy-but-lame nVidia Quatro video cards for 3D composite modeling...so while it's not a gaming PC or display adapter, it's not some crappy on-board junk either...so I don't think it's anything that has to do with the display. Exact version of IE6 is 6.0.2900.2180 on XP Profession SP2.

To further clarify visually:

Screenshot

In the above image, my posts text is visible because it's at the lower end of the scrollable browser window.

Screenshot

In this image, I scrolled down "one" tick on my scroll wheel on my mouse, and the text "disappears". It's like magic, only it makes me sad instead of happy... Smiley: laugh Please note that the text still "exists", I can selection highlight it with my mouse cursor...it just blends in with the background of the post area.

This should be fixed now. Please refresh pages where you've had problems and let me know if it's working properly now, as I can't replicate the problem on my IE6.
