Your AdvertisementsFollow

Dear Alla team,

Just wanted you to know that your advertisements are taking up
the information on the right side of the screen which prevents
us from seeing not only the pictures but also the information
on items and such. The pictures are one of the reasons I love
this site so much. Can you fix it? I can't say I know how to
block the advertisements.

If having to pay money is the requirement to enjoy viewing the
site, unfortunately, I guess I'm at a loss. Other sites do not
require a penny. Not complaining, was just thinking perhaps
there was an easy fix to it.

I'll still enjoy the use of this site's free content. I've used
this site for many years and appreciate the work put into it. Thanks
for that Allakhazam.

Server fees, staff wages, and all the other things involved in making a giant infohub like Allakhazam actually function costs a lot of money. That money has to come from somewhere. A lot of smaller sites use Google Ads or other things like that... but for MMO-related sites, that almost always ends up so you are promoting RMT sties just to function more often than not. Any MMO-related site that you visit that does not appear to have advertising is either A) set up on a small scale, probably either on a free blog or forum site or a privately leased URL, or B) getting funds in some other way, such as donations.

Anyway, since the site has to fund itself somehow, those who choose to use it but not to help support it monetarily will be subjected to ads because that's the only way money can be made off of them. This may sound cold, but without funding, the site would still be just a small EQ message board and nothing more.

Paying money to use the site is not required.

However, telling me the address (complete address prefered) of the page that you are having a problem is required so I can fix it. Along with the name of the browser you use and its version.

Reading the link that Darqflame provided a few posts up would have told you this as well.
#7REDACTED, Posted: Oct 06 2009 at 1:02 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hate to revive old post is old but Firefox+noscript+popup blocker pretty much makes free forum access into premium without the title, signature or avatar priveledge. That search engine is also the default staple web browser after the RMT Hacker wars began, i'm curious how is add revenue after players began using those add killers?
#8REDACTED, Posted: Oct 07 2009 at 2:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I don't think the guy's complaining about the content of the ads, or the fact that there are ads displayed, so much as the fact that they're covering anything on the ******* right side of the screen. That and the fact I can't ******* block them is pissing me off as well. I can't read the first post of most threads since the ******* ads are blocking it. Maybe fix where you put ****?

And you've helped how? Did you offer a page with a link? What is your browser and it's version? Screenshot? What are your display settings? Please do not come in and cuss at us without offering more information that you have. We'd be more than willing to try to figure out what the problem is. Please also note, this is October and the OP is from September and HIS issue may have been dealt with already, as someone necro'd the post. You could also benefit from the link I provided in this very thread. Thanks!

What browser version and screen resolution are you using?

Without this information, we can't help you.

That's interesting, because I have no problems whatsoever using Firefox and Adblock (which I assume you have). There's just blank space where the ads would be. Perhaps if you would take a screenshot and upload it to photobucket or some other similar free image sharing website and provide a link so we can see exactly what you see, people could help you better.

Actually while browsing with my phone (Windows Mobile 6.1 with Mobile Opera 9.5 with the FFXI skin) I get the same issue with advertising space covering up the right side of the top few posts. If I zoom in it's not a problem since I have a text wrap feature, but it's there in full screen. Not a big issue, but you might want to look into it.

In this case it's because of the phone's small resolution. It's highly unlikely that we will fix this for the existing skins. A while back we created http://m.zam.com so you can access forums without ads, but it requires premium.

Here is a pic of menu being open by default when I open site using firefox and no script and ad block: http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg28/shibaa/messedupmenuatlogin.jpg

For the big menu I just refresh the page and the menu will go away, but then comes back once site is re-opened until refreshed again, In addition you are unable to hide the menu, presumably until you allow the alla site with scripts.

and here is a pic of the big boxes on the right for where the ads would be, and the boxes were not there in the past: http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg28/shibaa/adbox.jpg
