If this has been posted before, please kindly point me to the thread. Otherwise, when is Allah going to add gravatar support? Please tell me you've at least considered it?

Also, I don't see how this is any different from setting a normal avatar on all the forums and websites you have an avatar.

With gravatar, you manage your avatar in one place. Any site wishing to use it simply links to a fixed URL (gravatar.com/avatar/<md5hashofyouremail>).
The biggest problem with it I see is theavatar images not stored on the site issue. We require them stored here so as to be able to immidiatly purge offending images. with an off site URL linked system, somoene could change the avatar to somethign highly inappropriate and then affect all their posts here. But it would really be a dev question.

Sure, but it could just as easily be a toggle switch that disables it if the user abuses it. For a long time I didn't even care, but now, about 25 sites that I visit on a semi-daily basis support Gravatar, so as the list grows, so does my interest in perpetuating it elsewhere.
