Pop-Under AdsFollow

Is there any chance we can add pop-under ads to the list of "no-no's" for advertisers? The Party Poker ads were annoying (they're on my "your ads have convinced me to never use your product/service" list).

However, the Kevin's Money Tree scam ads with their multiple "Are you SURE you don't want to take advantage of this ONCE IN A LIFETIME opportunity TO MAKE MILLIIONS" pop ups and the obvious scam nature of the "product" irritate me tremendously. There are warnings all over the net about this fraud, so I really don't appreciate Alla assisting them.

Overall, the fact Alla's been allowing pop-unders for the last few months has really diminished my desire to use this site; if they continue to allow them I doubt I'll be returning too often in the future.

The party poker ads are to appear once every 24 hours only for non-US viewers. That's it.

The Kevin's Money Tree ad is not to appear anywhere on any of our sites. Please read http://www.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=3&mid=1207324744284516508&num=0&page=1 so that you can provide me with the information required to find where the ad is being displayed so it may be removed immediately.

Can I ask why non-us viewers get lumped with the party poker ads? They are just as annoying for us. I understand this is a US based site but surely if the ads are deemed too annoying for US viewers, they shouldn't be popped up for non-US viewers.

Might have something to do with the ban on online poker for real money that happened in the U.S a couple years back. Since they can't really make any money off of us they don't pay to advertise. Just speculation, but seems to make sense to me.

Ok, Thanks for the info. Still very annoying ads.

AdBlock Plus and NoScript are your friends. If you are seeing ads on Allakhazam, you are seeing them elsewhere as well, and sooner or later there's going to be a zero-day exploit among them guided by your preferences.

If ads annoy that much, you may want to consider upgrading to Premium. It's not very expensive and you get a few benefits for upgrading, one of which is an ad-free site when you're logged onto your account. It's totally understandable if getting Premium is not convenient right now, but I did want to bring it up just to see.

AdBlockers = Cardinal Sin #1. They take away much-needed revenue from the site. Surely you don't want that on your conscious, do you? :D

Of course many viruses/spyware are put into ads, and while i do not know about anyone else, i personally care about my computer's security far more than anyone else's revenue. I understand that many sites rely on ads to keep the site running, but the risk of getting viruses/spyware is completely unacceptable to me. It is unfortunate that it has to come to that, but that is the way it is.

Conversely, I think ZAM Network and its "branches" (i.e. Wowhead, MMOUI, etc.) care more about the quality of the ads over the quantity of them. The story Pawkeshup linked above should help back up that point, as well as another trojan ad incident that happened last year which affected Thottbot and Wowhead. See http://www.wow.com/2008/05/06/wowhead-and-thottbot-on-ad-strike/

I don't mean to derail this thread in any manner. I just don't like seeing statements that could lead to wrong impressions. :P
