Seems the font has changed, on the ffxi skin at the very least. Can you change it back? <.<; It's small, has very little spacing, and is generally annoying now.

I don't like this font. It's very difficult to tell which threads have new posts that I haven't visited yet.

It's also difficult to read without making the left-hand menu HUGE.

Ah, so I wasn't crazy when I clicked on the forums and had that sneaky suspicion that something was different. Smiley: laugh

Didn't this happen before and there's a solution you can do on your own computer to enlarge the font? Do that.

That enlarges everything and doesn't make it much better. It's not just the size of the font that's the issue, it's the spacing and therefore the style.

Agreed. The new font is really tiny and hard to read.

I think we should leave it. I've already adjusted to it. Just leave it and give us [lg] back for those with poor eye sight.

It's not a matter of having poor eye sight, it's just that.. continuing on with this font will give us poor eye sight.

Bah, the new font is fairly hard on the eyes. The old one was much easier to read.

Seconded/thirded/fourthed (whatever nth this is). It is much harder to read than before, from the same computer, in the same lighting conditions, at the same distance from the screen. What is it Arial or Times New Roman? What's that really condensed font?

Why should we alter our size to make everything even beyond this site larger when we didn't change, this one website did? Why ask thousands to adjust when you can just ask the one hub that links those thousands to change?

The thing is, clearly another font existed previously (or there happens to be a convergence of insanity in several visitors to this website), and there are hundreds to a few thousand font styles. There are at least a few dozen that are better than this that are readable. It doesn't have to be wingdings, bowl-o-rama, or this condensed crap. We don't have to read in this font.

I remember way back when, in the early days of mass internet, when teachers/profs could now say type up a report and they meant with Word or an analogous program, not a typewriter, you got several people using this default "efficient" condensed font. Eventually, 2 or 3 years later, teachers moved away from that font because they said it hurt their eyes, going for the standard newsprint font (Times New Roman?) or 1 other one. Students eagerly switched because wider letters mean less content stretches to more pages, meeting the paper length requirement (I was the reverse, cheating by shrinking font size by 0.5-1 and playing around with similar looking fonts). What is Allakhazam trying to do, go 1999 retro with font?

Could you whine a little more? I'd give you some cheese to go with it, but I'm fairly certain Exo's eaten it all.

I don't ever remember being given a paper with a maximum length.

Thank you. I know its a small demographic, but looking at the tiny font after a weekend of NVG training is PAINFUL.

Size is better but the font still looks like crap.

Why did it get changed in the first place? What was wrong with the old one?

I miss the old font. It was just fine as it was. Did someone complain about it? Was it under copyright? Smiley: frown

At first it was very small, but the size should be universally standard now and is what the front page font size used to be before it got changed to Verdana and now back. If it's still small, try shift-reloading, that did it for me.

As for the change, all that changed was to go from Verdana to Arial. I requested it so that the sidebar and the index would be the same and don't intend for it to change back. It will just take some getting used to and if it wasn't reloading, hopefully it looks better for you.
