Hello, earlier today I posted a thread in the general section entitled, "AFK_Tell_Alert"
Several minutes later, it was locked and deleted. I was just wondering why. If you could please tell me why it was locked/deleted I would appreciate it, and if you could please reinstate it if it doesn't violate some kind of terms I would appreciate it.
AFK_Tell_Alert is a HELPER program I wrote for FFXI. It is NOT a cheating program. What it does is it allows the user to have all /tells (or triggers/alternate types such as linkshell or party chats) to be sent to the cell phone if the player needs to go AFK. It also allows the user to reply via text message from their cell phone if they are unable to type directly at the keyboard at the current time of the text.
Why this is useful:
1. Seeking a party: Do you really want to sit there for hours seeking a party when you have work to do around the house? Why not leave the program up AND do the work so that you can actually do something productive with your life while seeking a party.
2. Linkshell leaders: Do you want to know what's going on in your LS while you're busy doing something? Or do you need to be able to send your linkshell messages while you're doing something? The program let's you do that. It can NOT control the character, but it can talk as long as the reply starts with a /, as in it's a command (Ex. /tell, /linkshell, etc).
3. Casual conversation: Let's say you're not seeking a party, you're just out with friends, but you still want to talk to people on FFXI. This program let's you go out and still be able to interact with other people playing the game (verbally (well, more like textually), only).
And someone brought up the idea of spam being a problem... Well, I'm actually working on a way to filter out the spam so it doesn't get sent to the phone by parsing through the chat lines it reads and checking for any website links (IE. anything that ends in a .com/.net/.org/etc) and disallowing the program to send that text message.
The program doesn't log anything either, nor can it send or retrieve any personal information, so there's no risk of losing anything personal. It's completely harmless. And if you read the instructions, I actually state that I recommend using a different email account from GMail for free, that is dedicated to just being used by this program, so that people will feel safer using it.
If the problem is just that programs are not allowed to be posted on this site, I fully understand and I respect that and will not post it again. I was just trying to share my creation with the community.
If you could please let me know about this I would really appreciate it, because I really think it could help people out. I know it sucks to sit endlessly waiting for something that might not even come. I've been there before; this is just my version of a productive solution to the endless hours everyone wastes waiting for things in FFXI.
If a moderator or admin would like to see the product for themselves, the direct link to the download from my server is Link Removed.
Once again, if this is a violation, I'm sorry. I just wanted to clarify that for future reference and I understand if you don't want it here.
Thank you.
