So another forum I frequent recently updates their forum software. And one of the features added was if a user posted multiple times in a row (no one posted between them) it would automatically merge the posts

Now, the forum in question does this because "bumping" is against the rules, so instead of a reply it just edits and adds the text to the user's last post.

I just think it's a nice feature.

(The forum uses SMF 2.0)

Mmmm, I'd rather not have that, unless it was an option.(Like if you made 2 posts back to back you could click a "merge posts" button.) I think it would cause more trouble, imo. As an example: There's a thread in my journal where I have 4 separate posts to keep track of stuffs. Gear, merits, crafts, craft items. It would be a real pain in the *** to edit this stuff if it was all merged automatically into one post. I'm sure there are other situations where it would be equally as annoying.

Just to get another possibility out there, I am posting on another forum where you cannot post two successive posts in a thread within 210 minutes. It helps.
