I don't suppose there's a way to make the old skin available for us olde timers to use, is there?

Something like olde.zam.com?

There's only 20 of us!

Maybe so, but we squeak the loudest.

Can I reminisce about the previous skin yet?

Yes.

The only problem I had with the previous skin was that it didn't scale to fit widescreen monitors. I playes with the CSS fle and realised that it messed up the background image and that's whay they left it as a set maximum width. The colors were really nice though, and so were the easy to use dropdown menus. This new style is blindingly white and you have to move your mouse all over the screen to click on things that you used to get from the pulldown menus.

Niz, I'm curious if you'd be willing to post a link to the CSS for the black, grey and blue style that was just replaced like you did with the Hello Kitty Online one. (I used to have a copy of it, but it's been deleted.) If so, people that want to use it could use it with Stylish.

Another complaint (although I kind of like) the new navi bar is kind of broken sometimes when I load the site. Other times it works fine.

Are you zoomed out slightly in your browser(s)? In Firefox you can reset the zoom level with Ctrl+0 (zero).

That particular screen shot was at original zoom I did however try several other zoom settings and had the same problem. Seems rather random might be something to do with resolution settings on my dual monitor display as I can't reproduce it at school with just my laptop monitor.

Hrm. On my monitor at home, the new skin uses barely half the screen. That's pretty lame.

Meh, I've always used the ffxi skin anyway.

To be honest I didn't like the old zam skin either. As long as the FFXI skin stays intact I'm set.

It seems a little bigger, but it's still not as big as I remember it.

What I don't understand is the idea that the new menus are somehow superior and that the drop-downs are annoying and hard to use. That was in the news post about the new skin, but I have to say, increasing the number of times people have to click is not a good thing. If you made it customizable, it might be ok, but as is it's just frustrating.

Lol I was one of those 20 users. I used the www.allakhazam.com/forum which I think is the old EQ skin? I don't know.

This one isn't bad, just a little bright for my tastes, but it's loads better than the scripted nightmare of the straight up zam.com we switched to not too long ago, so I won't complain... Much

I just noticed the new "Poster" Window, or whatever you want to call the window that opens up when you click on someone's name, and I've got to say that having the most recent posts of people seems like a real bad idea. Makes it easy to follow people's posting history, know-what-I-mean?

You don't want people to know if your last 3 posts all said "+1", in a journal?

I think people need to stop worrying so much about karma and worry more about the content of the forums. I like that feature because maybe someone was looking at threads I missed, and there is something interesting in there.

The karma system makes sense in theory, but in practice I'm more in favor of moderators like a lot of other forums have to keep the rif raf under control. At least then there is no ganging up\bullying going on and you can have nice things like seeing what threads someone you agree with (or disagree with) is interested in. It might take some people out to different parts of the site instead of always =11 or whatever.

I realize I've been drinking a little, but I honestly have no idea what this post has to do with this thread.

I just tested something with the "Recent Posts".
Screenshot

The thread titled "This is a test" is in my journal, which is currently set to Private. I don't think "Recent Posts" should allow anon's/other users to see what I/others post in Private journals.

I mean, you can only see about two lines in the preview. I still don't think we should be able to see that.

Sorry about that. I've changed it to skip all journal posts for now, until I can figure out why the security check wasn't happening.
