The ! is more appropriate to it's usage in that a report is an alert to an admin, not that you can necessarily get a post nuked.
I have always thought it a label of toxicity rather than a request for destruction (in the forum context).

Can we get clarification on why Zam chose to add stars 5-7?

Although we know some users were attached to the idea of us replacing stars with this text at a point, it's one of the things that can make our forums look unprofessional or confusing to new users. We are keeping 10k titles though, and there may also be more stars than 7...

Is that really a good enough reason to get rid of it? I doubt new users were so unable to understand the system that it was an issue. And, I'll admit, I don't see how it makes it unprofessional in a negative way. I mean, if the goal is to make everything professional, there's really no good reason for avatars. Or forum skins. Or emoticons. Etc.

At the end of the day, this is still a gaming forum.
This.
Changes of the site for material gain for ZAM.com is fine. Erasing unique site features and homogenizing us, not so fine.

I dunno if this is a glitch or not, but bullets on the zam.com skin are in the blue part where your name and avatar are, not in the white body of the post.

I don't know how many people this affects, but reading posts today on my blackberry, if someone quotes another user, you don't get any visual separation of the quote and the new text.

    It will say for example:

    BadLarry wrote:
Happy Friday. I've posted in a couple of threads recently asking for advice on how to get caught up after being away from the game for awhile and I really appreciate you guys' help.
Also bear in mind doin this will net you lvl 90 and then you can spend a loooong tim capping your skills back up.

Without memorizing the original post when you first saw it, you'd have no idea that "Also bear in mind" is the beginning of the reply.

Also, more of a space between the rate up/rate down arrows would be nice, as another post I saw mentioned.

    No problem.

As you can see, there are two options, one that says List, and the other List Item. If you press List first, you get the necessary code to correctly place ... the list. I wanted that to sound smarter. The other button, List Item, just adds the code to add another item in the list you already made. So it should look like:

    [ul]
    [li]Item 1[/li]
    [li]Item 2[/li]
    [li]Item 3[/li]
    [/ul]

    for List, and:

    [li]List Item[/li]

for List Item. Combined, and without the code to show the necessary pieces:
    • Item 1
    • Item 2
    • Item 3
    • List Item

Ah. So you need both buttons to make the code work without running to far to the left. That seems extraneous.

    Smiley: dubious

"There is no fifth star" is confusing to new users? Are we talking about the same new users that managed to spam the WoW General Forum with "can haz beta key?" some two months after the giveaway stopped? The same new users who were unable to comprehend the difference between "Reply to thread" and "Create new thread"?

The claim that a meme spanning years, games and guilds on this site makes it look unprofessional is ridiculous. It's just a completely unnecessary change that does nothing but upset some of the regular posters. Do you think R. Tard McMoron is going to suddenly understand how the forums work because I have six stars instead of some text telling Mr. McMoron that there is no sixth star?

What's next, removing the Asylum and OOT because they make the site look unprofessional and the jargon is confusing? Luls.

    Smiley: oyvey

Something that was brought to my attention here, but could the Job forums be added to the list of links in the breadcrumbs for the games that have specific job forums? Obviously not all the forums themselves, but the generic gateway like this?

We should be able to rate Admins up or down when they are posting in a non-Administrative capacity.

Posts should have a counter showing a score of how many rates it's gotten. +1 for a rate up, -1 for a rate down. Sometimes when a post is marked Excellent, I want to know just how excellent it is.

    Something I noticed...

When you hit "Reply" to a post - you enter the "writing screen" (Normal so far)

Then you can scroll down and see the post you replied to. (normal so far)

But you can't see all the other posts. (Not normal - aka - Not how it used to be.)

    Example:

    OP writes post.
    Reply 1
    Reply 2
    Reply 3
    Reply n

You press the reply button to the OP Post. While writing the reply you want to reference something someone said in "Reply 3". (They made a good point and you want to reference it...) You now can't see that. You only see the OP Post beacuse you replied to that post.

In the previous version you could see all the posts... It was helpful....

Not a big deal, just a change that I don't understand.

Other than that - I like everything.

Is there any way to have the original thread option offer a condensed version as well, like last 20 posts?

Opening that up on a long thread like this can make things choke for a bit.

Something I noticed that may be on purpose, that I think should be changed: When you rate someone up or down the !Report automatically moves over to the left to where the rating arrows used to be. This is pretty annoying considering I just spam click on the arrows until they disappear, and then end up having to close the report window.

Why do you spam click? It's not like it makes them go any faster, and moving the button maintains a better look for the window.

Training for admin. You have to have a clicking finger of STEEL to cut it in this industry. those spammers don't rate themselves 40,000,000,000 times an hour you know!
