No reinstall required for me. It just started working again. Granted, it doesn't work perfectly, but at least it got over the update hump which meant that it was down for everyone.
You might search for answers in this forum. That's worked for me before. Also, I'm told that rale is most likely the admin who works on Lucy now, but I haven't had any communication from him. A direct appeal to him might work, though.
The last time it was failing for me, I solved the problem by running the program as an administrator. (I thought I had set it up to do that by default, but either I was wrong or its permissions were reset.)
