This might sound like a n00b question but, how do you access the screen shots once you take them?

PC or PS2?

On PS2, you can access the screenshots from the Navigator menu out of POL.

Hey i wanted to sign up for ballista the other day. I talked to the guy from sandoria, excenmille or wutever his name is. He told em to go to Invincible shield, and sum lady in windurst, and talk to them. He gave me key item letters to both of em. I talked to both of em. Then i went and talked to the president of bastok, and star sibyl in the cutscene. I got cutscenes for both. Then i went back to ecenmille but all he told me was to go talk to the ppl, in the other countries. Did i miss something?

Since this was the last question on a page and a new post pushed us onto a new page, its possible that this question might be missed.

As such I'm quoting it to bring it onto the current page.

Unfortunately I don't know the answer to it. I'm not a Ballista player. Smiley: frown

I got a question I need an answer to. Elemental Debuffs---> Burn, Frost, Choke, Shock, Drown, Rasp. I got all of them, and know what they do as far as stat decreases. My question is, do they drop elemental resistance. If I cast Burn, does it lower resistance to Fire, Drow to Water, etc.? I had a 74 BLM stumped on this one, so I need a wider range of input. Please help.

Ok lets give you a run down on what these do. Each spell will do DoT (just like Dia or Bio) of a specific element. Along with this each spell will decrease one of the games main stats.

Shock - Thunder DoT, Decreases MND
Rasp - Earth DoT, Decreases DEX
Choke - Wind DoT, Decreases VIT
Frost - Ice DoT, Decreases AGI
Burn - Fire DoT, Decreases INT
Drown - Water DoT, Decreases STR

So basically these are used to help the members of your party with various tasks. If your party is mage heavy toss out Shock to help them land debuffs and Burn to help nukes go unresisted. If your party is melee heavy use Frost to lower the enemies evasion and Choke to lower its defence. If you have a ninja tank you could also use Rasp to lower the enemies accuracy to make it easier on the ninja.

Well anyway you get the point. I hope this helped you out.

EDITED: Switched the words Damage with DoT in order not to confuse people.

well, i'm going to go with NO on the question of elemental debuffs.

i've seen nothing to suggest that they weaken the mob to the specific corresponding element, only the stat debuff as listed above.

i'd be interested to see any tests you run on your own, though. and so would the folks over on the BLM forum, i'm sure. i just don't see it working that way, is all.

i know this was addressed on another thread, but i figured it bears repeating for the sticky.

here's a noob question:

how do you get your ***** to come out in the flame thread? i can't get mine past the BLEEP-O-MATIC.
#264 Jan 03 2005 at 3:46 AM Rating: Good
This question was actually addressed in the flame thread, but there's so much there that I can understand missing it.

All you need to do to dodge the auto-censoring system is to insert a markup tag (such as [b][/b] into the middle of the word you want to use.

i.e. bla[b][/b]rt (using a non-swear word so as not to offend anyone who should wander in here, but my meaning should be clear.)

...

And if anyone's curious, to get markup tags to show up rather than disappear as per normal you would have to do

[b[b]b]/bb[/b[/b]/b]

which is a big pain in the butt, and an even BIGGER pain in the butt to SHOW to you, so I hope you appreciate it. Smiley: tongue

I have a question about Ballista...

What exactly is it and how do you take part? - I ran through Pashlow Marshlands not so long ago and a message on the screen said there were not enough players to take part in Ballista this time etc etc...

I'm just curious to what it is, what you have to do and how it works - the game manual left me more confused than I started.

Thnx ^^

I remember reading this somewhere but I can't seem to find it any where anymore. I remember reading that a level 2 or 3 skillchain not only causes a magic burst but also makes the mob weak to those elements? Lets say you do distortion (water/ice), it would lower the mob's resistance to those elements? True or no? I know magic bursts increases the accuracy of your spell but does it also lower the mob's weakness to the element for the duration of the battle?

allrighty.

start here:

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/guides.html?guide=219

basically, Ballista is a way to fight other players in FFXI. it seems to play out like a game of capture the flag, with sides represented by teams from two of the three nations. which nations are represented depends on the time and place, which also decides the level cap if i am correct. i gather that the PvP aspect is only a part of the game, but many people who play it avidly do so as a way to prove their skill against another in combat, likely disregarding the rest of the game, including the national conquest aspect, for the 'arena' atmosphere and bragging rights.

hope that helps. somebody correct me if i'm wrong, please.

OK, I got one:

What's the difference between AF and JSE and how when do I get JSE?
#270 Jan 06 2005 at 3:25 PM Rating: Good
AF is a type of JSE. Specifically, all AF is JSE, but not all JSE is AF.

Job Specific Armor you can get a variety of ways, depending on your job.

Artifact Armor requires completing specific quests, and are equipable around lvls 55-60 (+/-).

Then there's AF2, which has something to do with Dynamis, but I'm not absolutely positive about these so I'll let someone else explain them.

Nataraj, how do you get a user icon? Is it by having a premium account? Or am I just blind on the user account section?

Hey Aunika. I think I can answer your questions. I definatly think it'd be worth it to purchase the elemental/debuff scrolls. If nothing else do so that when your leveling ninja you'll have more options. If you take nin/war and plan on tanking they help garner aggro.

Also the enfeeble type ninjustus (blind, slow, ect) tend to stick for me, even when I have ninja sub'd. Which is cool, because those things are all sorts of handy. In my experience the elemental debuffs arent really worth it when ninja is taken as sub.

As to the question of the cheapest way to lvl ninjustu: casting utsusemi over and over again can be enough for some to cap the skill, but, in an effort to make you a non-one dimensional ninja, the cheapest ninja tools out there are Tsurara. These are needed to cast Hyoton: Ichi, which inflicts ice damage and lowers the target's resistance to fire.

I strongly urge you to purchase all the scrolls you can afford. It'll make you a better player and enhance your play experience. That and I hate seeing ninjas that only use the one spell, its a waste of a job if you ask me.

(I hope I didn't come off sounding too harsh or bossy, just trying to answer the question to the best of my ability)

So about that link to the User Posts page?
#276 Jan 07 2005 at 3:16 PM Rating: Good
I didn't see this until I became a premium member, but there is a link to Your Posts in your User Account section.

I'm just not certain if it applies to basic members.
