Upcoming Version Update
FINAL FANTASY XI Development Team (3/22/2005)

The development team is currently working on the next version update, which will include all the usual goodies--new quests, new Notorious Monsters, and various system additions and improvements--as well as the next installment of the Promathia story. Watch this space for the latest announcements regarding update details.
The next version update is scheduled to take place in late April.

Equipment Storage
FINAL FANTASY XI Development Team (3/24/2005)

In the previous version update, a new service was added allowing players to safely store full sets of artifact armor for a small fee. Due to the positive feedback regarding this new feature, the development team has decided to expand the equipment storage service to include over thirty new sets of various low-level armor and clothing. After trading a full set (consisting of 4 to 5 pieces) to one of four NPCs located in each of the major nations, players will receive a claim slip that can be presented when they wish to have their armor returned.

Whether for level-restricted orb battles, Promathia missions, or for raising support jobs, low-level equipment can eat up a lot of room in a player's Mog Safe. Utilizing this feature will make it easier to store and retrieve space-consuming armor sets, while leaving Mog Safes open to hold more important items. The days of throwing away sleepshrooms to open slots for your silver gauntlets are over!

Further details on the expanded service will be made available in the version update announcement released in late April.

I'm very happy to see they're expanding the item storage. I have 80 safe spots and 40 inventory slots and they're usually both full, including storage, and I have *three* mules full of stuff. >_> ...OK fine so I can't find a job and stick with it. :p

But all the more reason for liking this idea. Now I don't have to worry about running out of space, and maybe, just maybe, I can delete a couple mules and save a couple bucks a month. Though it's looking like you can only turn in full sets, and I mix and match my armor. I guess we'll see. Still, it'll come in handy for Tavnazia I guess. I hear almost every last area there is level capped.

Theres a rumor. floating around that theres gonna be a new drg ability. I dont trust the source since its "I heard it from this guy who heard it from another guy" but if we do get a new ability Im gonna be happy as hell.

Only downside to the storage is... I dont always buy a full set of the same armor >.<

..for example, my 32 WAR has some Centurion Gear and some Kampsafjsaidfuiah Gear. I'm still stuck with no room ; ;

It's also bound to erase signatures.... still, storing RSE gear would free up a few more slots.

I do hope they will look at furniture... I'm fine with storage only accessible in your hometown, but it's very annoying that the furniture still takes up slots in your mogsafe...

I could forsee bigger moghouses and moghouses in other towns if placed furniture is no longer occupying slots in mogsafe... but that'll be for the next couple of updates... (wouldn't want them to give us ALL the goodies right away :)

Personally I would like to see the cap on the amount of items you can send via the delivery service. When moving stuff back and forth between characters, eight slots just doesn't cut it.

I have enough inventory space on my main for 3 jobs worth of gear plus food, rare/ex stuff, blah blah.

If I desire to play a fourth job who's gear is on my mule I waste alot of time in front of that delivery guy. >< Easily four trips back and forth. If I want to send 50 items, Let me.

Then again, it would be interesting to see how many people start using the delivery service to store their gear. Ok at least change it to 12-16 slots so you can move a full job's worth of gear in one shot.

Friend List Changes:

On March 3rd, the PlayOnline Viewer Friend List was updated with several new and exciting features such as the Group Friend List. These additions are also scheduled to be implemented within FINAL FANTASY XI later this spring.

The PlayOnline Friend List is now more convenient and easy to use than ever. In addition to My Friend List*, the newly added Group Friend List allows you to communicate with your friends in more diverse ways, with functions such as displaying each group member's personal comments on each list.
*The Friend List has been renamed to "My Friend List."

Group Features
Group Features Just like My Friend List, the Group Friend List allows you to share information such as personal comments and portraits, regardless of each member's online status. In addition, there are new functions specific to friend groups, such as "Group Message" and "Group Chat." For example, if you invite FINAL FANTASY XI linkshell members into a friend group, the linkshell members will be able to communicate with each other outside of the game. Even members who log in at different times can use "Comments" and other functions to casually communicate with each other.
*The Friend List shown here corresponds to the PlayOnline Viewer update of March 3rd 2005.
For details, please refer to "The New and Improved PlayOnline!" section of "Quick Manuals."
*The Friend List that will appear in games such as FINAL FANTASY XI may have different designs and controls than the PlayOnline Friend List.

I think the idea for armor storage is a good one...

BCNM, Garrison, 2-3 Dragon, etc would take up a lot of space in my mog...not that i'm really at a high enough lvl for any of that to matter.

Another Fishing update:

- New BGM

New music will play when battling it out with "the big one."

- "Inside the Belly" Expanded

The number of types of fish accepted for the "Inside the Belly" quest has been increased.

- New Fish

New varieties of freshwater and saltwater fish have been added. There are also rumors of new legendary beasts roaming the waters...

- Fishing Monsters

When a monster is caught, only the player who reeled it in (and his/her party or alliance) will be able to attack it (the monster's name will be displayed in red/purple).

Ok, after some looking around, this seems to be a April Fools joke. A &*^#ed up one yet well thought out and designd. I was seriously pissed about it. This would have caused me to spend a large amount of money that I didnt need to.

If you look at the links addie its actually the address to the aradorn linkshell's site. Bravo gents that was a good one, and at 3:30-4:00 in the morning I fell for it.

umm...was this just a clever attempt at making a panic?

the address does NOT go to ffxi, but to your LS site...

i'm sure a lot of people would not find that very funny, were that the case.

nice april fools joke. but if they were to cut off the PS2 service, they would be losing 90% of the JP population so i doubt that it will ever happen.

This April Fool spread accross the internet like crazy, Gamespot, Slashdot and Warcry were a just a few of the sites that picked up on it, there were just short of 20,000 views. The majority of people enjoyed it and saw the funny side, of course there were a few it upset and to these people I humbly applogise.

Regards

Well it's kinda hard to take it seriously when it says April Fools when you close the window. Not to mention the URL. What I find most amusing is Gamespot is trying to play the good guy and keep the "rumors" under control. No offense to the creator but that's just funnier. :p

Yes, because the fact that the mannequins weren't posable had been keeping me up all night. Let's hope there's more to this update than new fishing music and mannequins that can vogue. Something like, oh...mog safe upgrades? Granted, the equipment storage is nice, but that's for full or close to full sets, right? Still doesn't even begin to clear up the clutter on my mules.

Up until now, Ballista has been a one-way street. Players could only participate in nationally sponsored matches located in areas determined by the IRNC. But now, with the opening of a new area designed specially for Ballista, adventurers from all over the world can take the excitement into their own hands.

Some of the new area's features include:
*Area Reservation--reserve the area for you and your friends!
*Rule Adjustment--set various rules such as match length, level restrictions, and more!

While installation of the Chains of Promathia expansion pack is required to access the new Ballista area, progression in the missions is not necessary. However, a small amount of gil and/or Ballista Points may be requested before utilizing several of the services.

--------------------------------------------------------------

More information on the new Ballista area is on its way, so keep your eyes glued to this site for further updates!

They just keep on adding to this thing don't they? Well maybe the ability to reserve areas will help encourage some people because I know I'd get mad waiting for a match to start only to hear it's been cancelled. If you ask me though, they need to make special ballista-only areas, where you enter and you're already participating for your nation. Or something like that...

And I wish they'd stop with the silly updates and fix their servers. I don't need any other proof of server problems than Ragnarok.

Playonline wrote:
The number of experience points required to gain each level was originally calculated after considering players' effects on the world of Vana'diel as they progressed beyond the initial level cap of 50. However, a considerable amount of time has passed since the implementation of the final cap of 75, and players beyond level 50 no longer have the same influence on the balance of the game. After a close review, the FINAL FANTASY XI development team has decided to reduce the amount of experience needed for leveling up after reaching level 51 (levels 1-50 will remain the same, however).

The update will affect the following:

-Experience points lost due to KO.
Starting at level 25, experience points lost after being KO'd will be 8% of the amount needed to reach the next level. However, this value will never exceed 2,400.

-Currently accumulated experience points.
At the time of the version update, if a player's currently accumulated experience points exceed the number required for the newly adjusted level, that player's experience points will be reset to one point below the number needed to gain a level.

New content and system-related adjustments are under constant consideration by the FINAL FANTASY XI development team to ensure a balanced playing experience in the evolving world of Vana'diel.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Further details will be provided on the day of the update.
