Lack of WHM'sFollow

#1 Apr 19 2005 at 10:20 AM Rating: Default
I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but there's been a nice absence of whm's lately, ranging from level 10-30. Well, that's somehting I notice in few areas where I pt. Perhaps people have quit the role of being a WHM?

The jobs are leveling out atm. the influx from PS2 release, which we shall call the "Baby Noobers" have all reached lvl's above 60 on their mains. So they went back and started lvling other jobs a few months ago, melee's doing mage work, and vise versa. Now most of them have played around with a mage and a melee so we are stuck with a question of preferences. Some people prefer whm, blm, smn etc. some prefer melee. I started as whm and later went to sam. I have lvled whm again several times, but atm I find it more entertaining to be slashing away at things and doing fancy looking weapon skills.

As people find their tastes, whether inherent or acquired, things will even out again.

Yet it takes 4x as long as it used to in order to find a pt as a whm. More and more groups (I guess post 30 in this case) are finding out they can use RDMs as main heals, or that they don't really need one at all with a good pld or nin setup.

I had a static with a blm, whm, and myself as a rdm. Took the job up to 29 and rarely, if ever, saw a whm lfg. On the other side of the coin, we spent a good 45 min waiting for enough melee to pop up to complete our pt.

Zanon, I'm not sure you grasp my concept. Hyla, alot of pt's are trying to cut corners with healers, and now you see rdm who are becoming frustrated at not being allowed to do the rdm job.

Ah c'mon, is it any wonder why there is a shortage of WHM?

Every time I got onto my WHM I wanted to cry. It was so bloody boring. :x

It didnt become boring until 35+ where ninjas and paladins began perfecting their tanking. Less mess for the WHMs to clean up.

But, I've been leveling my 40 whm again and I must say, it's a nice relaxing break from pulling all the time with my ranger.

Yeah, it's annoying looking for whm's cause they're one of a kind when it comes to the healing role and many people dont want to fight w/o one, whereas you have a variety of other choices for the other spots in a pt. Although i do think people look at me as more of a gimped whm more often than not as my smn. been main healing since lvl 11 except for one pt in qufim (which rocked btw).

The biggest problem is that there is no new blood in FFXI. Before I quit, I was trying to lvl some of my lower jobs, (BRD, RDM) and I could never find a party. I also noticed something else though, my first 2 times going through Quifim, and the Jungles, there was always 120+ people in the zone. Right before I quit, max number of people on any given night (yes weekends as well) was about 65 for Quifim, and about 30 for each of the jungles. Half of those people in each zone were part of a static that was lvling subs, or other jobs in general. Being a lowbie just isn't pratical on this server any more.

Hey, if I could level whm all over again, I would! Those lower levels, where tanks were horrible and aggro was abundant were the levels that helped me to develop my skills as a white mage such as allowing the tank who doesn't cure himself to die, or pulling hate so I can die therefore allowing my own party to die also with no raise in sight. Ahhh those were the good old days that's for sure.

But a lot of people can't stand being a white mage because it does have it's boring moments for some people. If you don't love being a white mage from the beginning, you won't make it past East Ron to Valkurm at level 10. You'll just go level something else. But don't worry, if all else fails you can always make your black mage be main heal, I hear they love that! >.>

No actually Awias that was not because of the lack of white mages, it was simply to **** you off and make you want to quit Summoner...sorry to break it to you...

Like Hell we do! God! Knowing that I have WHM infused into my body just for more MP makes me SICK... SIIIICK!!! BLARGHL!! I hate being WHM! I only leveled it to 38, which later de-leveled to level 37 due to a newbie mistake, was for a back-handed reason... Teleports=Money... that and I wanted to level BLM to max and I know noone'll take a BLM/THF into the pt... ~.~

I can honestly say, I have never experienced any lack of White Mages. Every time I wanted to Xp, there was always a very good one available.
