Guys,
Don't get too excited about this. According to the Official rules of the game (Found at http://www.7up.com):
"Grand Prize: 1) Winner and guest will travel to the "Announcement Ceremony" event to be determined by Sponsor, which will take place no earlier than October 1, 2005. Trip will consist of two (2) round trip coach-class air transportation from a major U.S. gateway airport nearest winner's residence, standard hotel accommodations (one room), and a daily meal allowance to be determined by Sponsor. 2) One (1) ticket on one of the first ten commercial seats to sub-orbital space offered by the winner of the ANSARI X PRIZE or its affiliates ("Commercial Operator") at a time and location to be determined by the Commercial Operator. Actual trip details are contingent upon final itinerary established by the Commercial Operator. Prize includes roundtrip coach air transportation for two (2) between the major U.S. gateway airport nearest Grand Prize Winner's residence and the major U.S. gateway nearest the point of departure of the sub-orbital space flight, standard hotel accommodations (one room), a daily meal allowance (amount to be determined by Sponsor), and $100,000 cash to be awarded to the Grand Prize Winner following completion of space flight which may be put towards payment of taxes. ARV of entire Grand Prize package: $305,000. "
Please note the word "SUB-ORBITAL", which probably means this is just one of those flights where they take a 747 and fly it high enough to start 'plummeting maneuver', where the passengers experience a zero-gravity feeling, as if you were in space. Also note the ARV (approximate Retail Value) of the prize. You think it only costs you 300k to go into orbit?
So... don't expect to be taking pictures of earth from the moon just yet.
Just call me your bubble buster of the day... ;;
