I settled down in his arms and fall asleep...

But not before that amazing kiss.

Interlude VI: Mooninguafutaa (Morning After)
***
I felt something brush my lips, gentle as the wind and softer than the clouds, bringing me out of my dreams of my homeland. Not opening my eyes, I slowly realized that someone’s hand was delicately placed alongside my face, and was slowly slipping down my side only to stroke the side of my body in time to whatever was dancing across my mouth. Small wisps of what I recognized as hair were casually, as if accidentally, tickling against my neck back and forth.

As I laid trying to figure out what was happening, the pressure and intensity grew on my lips as the seconds ticked by...

Oh my goddess...it feels so nice...

Slowly, my eyes finally fluttered open...

And I found my prince kissing me.

He noticed instantly that I finally stopped pretending to be asleep, and so he gave me one more quick kiss before he pulled away and then smiled with a gentle blush glowing on his face.

"Figured that that might be better than just a simple jab in the ribs to wake you up butterfly..." he said quietly.

I giggled, and then kissed his nose.

"Baka..." I said teasingly. Seeing the confused expression on his face, I stuck my tongue out at him before telling him that it meant 'silly'.

With that, he grinned as he then got up from the dusty Buburimu ground and walked over to where I had dumped our stuff on the dirt the night before. He flipped open a dhamel leather bag, and rummaged through it until he finally pulled out a couple small tins of food, one of which he tossed over to me. Peeling the metal top back, I found cold galkan sausage links, which I handed to Dimitri-chan once he was sitting next to me.

"Cook?" I said hopefully.

He turned his head and looked at me with surprise across his face.

"You are the one good with synthesizing stuff here Hitomi." he said as he dug out a couple of fire crystals from his pockets and handed them both to me.

I only pushed them back to him.

"No, I not make even a brass hairpin well." I replied.

"But..." Dimitri-chan started to say, as his face twisted into evident confusion.

"Something wrong?" I asked quickly, wondering if I managed to upset him.

He only shook his head. "Nothing..." he said quietly, "But I think we just better eat our breakfast cold, okay?"

We started to eat, the meat slipping all over my tongue as I speared it with my fingertips and then popped it into my mouth.

"We need to hurry up and re-pack, if we are gonna make it to Windurst today." Dimitri-chan said between mouthfuls of sausage after he slipped the crystals back itno his pocket.

The meal suddenly turned to greasy tasteless lumps in my mouth, and slid uncomfortably down my throat to sit like a stone in my stomach.

I had forgotten about that...

"Dimitri-chan...we need no go..." I said, trying to desperately persuade him to turn away from that place.

Dimitri-chan only turned his head to stare at me for a moment.

"Hitomi...why are you so dead-set against going to Windurst?," he asked me after a moment.

I only shook my head.

"I no tell...sorry..." I turned my head away from him, my long black hair accidentally brushing his body as I did so.

"Alright...I won't press you. If you want, you may stay outside of the city with the chocobo while I talk to the sixth ministry, okay?" He spoke in a slightly hurt tone of voice, as if he really wanted to know why I didn't want to go there.

I’m sorry Dimitri-chan...I don’t want to lose you...

We finished our breakfast and packed our bags up in an uneasy peace. Once we were both saddled back onto the chocobo, I touched Dimitri’s shirt, and tugged on it.

He turned around to face me, with a questioning look, that suddenly disappeared when I kissed him.

"Just...enjoy time with me, okay?" I said, gazing deep into his eyes.

He stuttered a couple times, before replying.

"Sure Hitomi..."

We stayed like that for a couple moments longer, until I finally spoke again.

"Hey Dimitri-chan?"

Somehow, impossibly...I was falling harder, and farther for him with every passing second...

"Yes Hitomi?"

"Aishi-" I started to say, the word starting to escape unbiddingly from my mouth...

And it was then that all hell decided to break loose.

A stray meteor slammed out of the heavens into the dirt next to where we were idling on our chocobo, breaking the chicken into fearful flight across the Buburimu Peninsula. All the sudden, destruction in all different forms started to rain down upon us, the chocobo only barely able to keep one step ahead from being blasted into bits, with us on top of it.

"What is going on here? It's like we are trapped in Mordi-" Dimitri-chan started to shout as we barely dodged a cylinder of fire that arched down from the heavens and scorched the earth next to us.

The bird tore through the rest of Buburimu Peninsula and into the Canyon in record time, and I could hear the bird start to wheeze as it pushed itself harder and harder towards the Federation.

"I don't understand," Dimitri-chan said, "this sort of magic that they are using is used to target the enemies of Windurst during an offensive attack...yet...I don’t know why it is going after us..."

Dimitri-chan jerked the bird a bit to the left, narrowly missing a thunderbolt that blackened a tree as we passed by it.

In what seemed like minutes, we tore through the canyon and the dusty rock walls quickly melted into something that Dimitri-chan called Sabrutabaruta...

And then as we raced across the grassy plains, we finally saw the great Federation of Windurst...

Being destroyed.

I'm a bit speechless by the dedication; what an honor and such a compliment to receive!

Lolz, at least I have the breath to say how thrilled I am that you enjoyed meh humble lil' site... And I love that song you are referring to... hehe...

Oh! I paid ya a lil' homage when I updated my site today...

Thank you, hon. I'm so moved.

And now about this chapter! Oh my! And I thought your compliment tickled me pink! I had goosepimplez from beginning to end... First w/ the butterfly kisses Hitomi was pleasantly awoken with... all the way to the chilling images of chaos at the end. Took meh breath away... again.
