The bliss of a new computer...Follow

So I just finished building my new PC. The reason for building it was that my wife needs her own computer for school and I was hoping for a performance boost over my old machine. This is what I purchased (newegg ftw!):

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego
ASUS A8V Motherboard
512mb RAM (from old machine that had 1gb)
ATI Radeon 9800 pro (from old machine as well)
The case Yeah, I know there are issues with this cases power supply, but only if you overclock and I do not.

With my old machine (which was a Sempron 2600) I was able to get a benchmark of 1700ish on high resolution. I finally got everything put together, the OS installed, and all drivers and updates downloaded last night so I went and downloaded the benchmarck.

The score? 5122

I was hoping for a performance increase, but I wasn't expecting that (Of course now I can't log in to see how it runs the game

With that, I was wondering what other people play on? My brother's Alienware Area-51 laptop benched at 4300. Here's your chance to share with everyone else what your rig is and what your scores were

p4 3GHz
2Gig RAM
nvidia 6800 (normal) PCI-E

sux... framerate still takes a hit with a lot going on (i run at 1920x1200). i really hope they release a video upgrade patch along with the xbox360 release as rumored.

I was gonna try to run it on a trial version of Windows XP x64 but I was NOT impressed with that OS. What a pain in the butt to load.

There's definately some room for improvement on my box, I want 2gb of RAM and an SATA HDD but I just spend $700 on computer stuff, might be hard to talk the Mrs. into any more right now :D

Don't be so sure on that, i picked up a normal case for my new PC and decided to use the included power supply. /sigh Had to replace the video card (2 times, once was RMA second time they said yea right its not our problem) the Motherboard and the RAM, as well as the power supply itself.

Spend the 100$ or so and grab one from Antec or any reputable company. It will make a difference on newer technology equipment as they have less tolerance for variations in voltages and one off spikes.

The PSU didn't "blow" any equipemnt but the irregularities in voltage ended up causing permanent memory corruption on both the video card and the RAM. It is possible my motherboard was unaffected but i was not about to chance it.
