This is my first attempt at ffxi fan fiction.

It is about getting rdm af3 and how i chainspell escaped half the party and then passed on the drop.

Before I begin I would like to thank Mathias (75 nin) and Krion (75 smn) for all their help.

So....

One fine Bismarck evening a dedicated alchemist by the name of Trix was working away in the guild when from out of the shadows came the shape of Mathias, a talented ninja.

"Wow, what an honour to see you sir," the elven crafter said. "My master has a favour to ask you. Would you be willing to venture into the squalid depths of Garleige Citedel to help her with an investigation?"

"Anything for a friend," replied the eastern warrior. "Get her to meet me in Jeuno."

So with the stealth and speed only a ninja can manage, off Mathias went to Jeuno.

In the drinking establishment frequented by so many travellers the up and coming Mithra red mage, Blix, met up with her long time friend.

"I have faith in your abilities,'' the blonde said, "but before leaving this city let's see if we can find anyone else willing to take up my call to arms."

A fledging ninja saw the pair and boldly strode up to them. "I will gladly aid you," the cocky taru said.

The pair were dubious. The area they were about the enter has been the scene of the loss of many lives, it was no place for the inexperienced. But the little guy would not take no for an answer.

"I am Krion," he said, "I may not have proved my self as a fighter yet, but my summoning skills are known the world over. Let me demonstrate"

And with that he raised his arm and to his side a stunning astral wolf came. The taru gave the majestic creature a quick stroke on the chin and then dismissed it. "Let's go!"

Once in Garleige Citedel they me up with a monk who was friends with the Mithra and the party of four ran through the doors know as the banish ing gates. Just beyond them the taru pointed to a box on the floor. "That holds the monster you must confront," he said "Touch it my mage friend and we will help you vanquish it."

So the blonde reached out and before her hands could come in contact with the wood a huge gargoyle magically appeared. The ninja was expecting this and with an uncanny speed engaged the fiend. Meanwhile the summoner had called upon Titan to aid them and the monk had also engaged the moving statue.

After recovering from the initial shock of seeing something so big materialize out of thin air, Blix quickly fell back into the role she was so accustomed to; Using her magic to hasten the already lightning fast melee and to aid in the mana regeneration of her fellow mages.

Things were going well and the red mage though about joining in the fight. “I have the spells at my disposal to strengthen my armour. I should be fine,” she thought.

Just then the summonner called her to retreat to the relative safety of the corridor outside the room in which they were fighting.

All was going to plan.

Then in a moment of absentmindedness Blix cast the wrong spell, escape! Under normal circumstances this wouldn’t have been a problem but as a red mage she had just enabled herself to cast spells at the speed at which only someone practiced in this kind of magic knows how. As a result, before anyone has time to blink, the summoner and the red mage, who’s face was at this point becoming as red as her tunicl, found themselves on the plains outside.

“You fool,” cried Krion rushing back to the entrance. Blix was not far behind, kicking at the dust and cussing under her breath as she ran.

Fortunatly for her Mathias was as skillful as ninjas come and the guardian statue, not being too smart of an entity was whiffing away at shadows.

Not soon after the two magic users return to the fray the guardian statue fell to the ground and dematerialized as quickly as it had appeared. The only thing left in its place was a pair of rusty nail pullers.

“Nail Pullers!” cried Blix, “what do I want with them?” and without thinking discarded them and began heading for the door again.

“You really aren’t the brightest of cats are you?” asked the Summoner. The ninja was equally unimpressed. “They are what you have come for, that box in the corner holds the answers and you need to nail pullers to open it.

“Ah, so I do need them,” she exclaimed as she grabbed the vital item she had only moments ago shunned. “How could I be so dim!”

Using them carefully she pried open the box to reveal the ghost of one of the greatest red mages of all time.

Blix, now even more embarrassed, and the rest of the party then made their way back to the city from which they had come from. Back in the tavern Blix lavished the party with many flagons of ale as thanks for a job well done, while the three other members of the victorious party ribbed her about previous antics.

Hurrah for fanfics! It was a very amusing story and had things in it that we all (in any job) could identify with from time to time. =)

Thank you for sharing, Blix! ^_^
