Hello everyone. Today I was watching my friend play FFXI. He is a level 16 warrior newbie, and is still getting to know the game. Something happened to his char. today that made me very angry.
I will tell you basically what happened, and if you want the specifics read the longer story. Basically, half the party died by a gob, he HPed, went back to camp, got agroed, HPed, repeat, repeat, then got agroed again, went **right past** the camp, got no help, tried to zone, died, got raised, zoned, and while he was resting, the leader said that she was going to replace him if he didn't hurry.
(Now the long and specific story)
He was lfg in valkurm, and walking steadily towards Konschtat, hoping to avoid agro, when he got a party invite. He accepted the invite, and saw there were only 3 people (including him). They were all in Konschtat so he headed to where they were. When he got there, they started heading the other way, and got 2 more party members. They fought a few mobs, but headed steadily towards the beach as they looked for members. They fought a goblin, and half the party died. My friend just HPed back to the konschat zone. He worked his way back to camp, but got agroed by 2 sets of sand bats. He tried to fight them but he died yet again. He HPed again, and went back. He died again by a goblin agro, but this time got a raise. He went towards the parties camp and got a gob agro again.
He walked past the camp, but no one bothers to voke it off him or cure him. The tell him to Zone. With 30 HP left. Of course he doesn't make it. He is resting in selbina when the leader says: (and I quote, I am not making this up)
"Hey, you need to come to camp soon or we will replace you with a LS blm. Sorry."
......
I can understand why the party leader would get angry, but maybe instead of saying "We will replace you if you don't come", say
"Hey! Are you having trouble getting to camp? I'll come help you! Follow me!"
I mean come on guys.. can't we be a bit more considerate??
I did not bother to put the names of the people who were involved, simply because I know those people are probably usually nice people, and I don't want to start a feud or anything... It just strikes me as odd, the way we treat our newbie players.
