My middle son who goes by the name of Monkeygod just got the game last month for his birthday. He was buying meat mithkabobs from AH in Bastok. He paid 20k for his 1st stack but when the 2nd stack wouldn't go for 20k...he bid 172,495 gil or the rest of the 200k his big sister Nenye had givin him as start up money.
he didn't understand why he was out of gil until his big brother Strifer read his log and wanted to kill him...lol. Monkeygod started crying..it was all very...sad? Now monkeygod is grounded from the AH. But he is Garek's Nephew so AH mistakes run in our family. Obviously we are a family of n00bs.

My husband, Doc, put a Crawler Cocoon in the AH for 1k and went on his merry way to party.

He kept getting /tells of congratulations while he was in the GC from people he never knew. It was a huge buzz at the time, his crawler cocoon sold for 3.7 million gil, and I kid you not.

Then, the fella who made the mistake was /telling Doc constantly what mistake he made and pleaded that he was going to give Doc a reward of 500k for returning him the gil. Doc actually ended up giving him the full 3.7 million gil back, minus the 1K he intended to sell it for at the AH.

That person who made the error? It was Jjay, who had been recently booted from FFXI for speed hacking and who claimed to have over 400 million gil. Now, had we known this, or even, if you were in the same position and known this, would you still give the guy the money back?

Oh well, at least Doc's conscience is clean.

Since when do people on FFXI have a conscience? I always thought that was one of those things that you had to leave at home when you played FFXI...that and deductive reasoning skills, I haven't seen any of that either.

LOL. I mailed back 25k someone overpaid for a Ram Leather a while ago. Person was JP. Mailed it back unprompted, I sent an autotranslate tell to let him know to empty his box. There was this long pause then I was spammed with JP and tons of [Thank You] auto-translates.

It was only 25k, but sometimes even a token goes a long way. I'm pretty impressed at your husband above. I was on a mule for the 25k thing and I have no idea if I'd have been able to return 3.7m. I'd like to think I would, but damn, that's tempting. ><

It was extremely tempting. Our LS was chanting "Keep Da Money! Kepp Da Money!" But in all, he couldn't.

Bismarck is a small world if you played for two years. You hear horror stories of friends cheating friends and people ripping off others, stealing accounts and so on. You see these people passing you by, you party with them once in a blue moon. A bad reputation sticks forever. Can you think of one bad player with a lousy rep who ever reformed? Would you ever believe it if it was so?

He just thought if he did a good thing, it will be remembered and hopefully more people would be inspired to do better deeds under those circumstances as well.....alas, Jjay was a hacker cheat, but, what can you do?

I had the same thing happen when someone paid 80k for a stack of sushi I had up (they bought tuna instead of sole by mistake). Slight difference, though: After a week, the money was still in my outbox. I got tired of being short a space - I mule a lot - so I took it back out and kept it. >.>

I actually had Jjay rip me off once when he had his casino running. It was only 50k but that was a lot to me at the time lol, i harassed him for months and he actually returned it after forever! If that happened to me though, I'd be hard pressed to give him the money back lol, it would just be too funny to see karma come back and bite him in the *** 10-fold.

Funny you should mention that Bonushand because we saw him rip off some one weeks later with his casino after the 3.7 mill incident. That's when we were clued into what type of character he was.
In Lower Jeuno he was betting casino with a guy, and if I remember correctly, the guy actually won 13 million gil off of Jjay (it was a huge outrageous amount, in the millions, I really think it was 13 mill). Everyone saw it, it was all in /say and random rolls. But Jjay refused to pay the guy, stating he didn't see him win at all. Everyone was /saying "Pay Him! We Saw It! Scroll Dude! Scroll!" But Jjay acted dumb and didn't pay the guy. I think he made him re-roll.
