This isnt fair. I live in S. Florida, and often to have d/c issues because of bad storms. Now when I do, people are going to think I'm faking. I remember d/cing out of a pt with both Hurricane Katrina and Wilma. Though, "I might have d/c issues, I'm being hit by a hurricane" is pretty easy to prove. ^^

Yeah I live in alaska and like the only company alaskans can turn to for internet is ACS (alaska communications system).. (or something like that)
Anyway they really suck and apparently my whole community has been having internet problems for the past month .
And when I call ACS they think its just my connection and ask me stupid questions like I'm some technically defeciant old lady.....
Anyway, they really didn't believe me when I said that EVERYONE in the community is having the same problem!!
/sigh..
So yeah I have been getting DCed A LOT
and the parties will just kick me because they think I am just fake DCing.
really annoying
GDI ACS u r nub..........
I hate j00 I will tell the bunny to pwn j00 in ur sreep... all of u!!!!!

So um yeah...
I have had to fake DC ONCE.. onry once....
that was in the dunes <.< >.>
<.< >.>
>.> <.<
and I told them that there was a huge snowstorm and it was going to knock down the communication pole thing by my street so I had to log and run away! <.<
anyway!
(It actually WAS going to!! ... <.< >.>)

If you get hit by a hurricane and you aren't D/C'd, I'm switching to your ISP.

Ok, I am not talking about normal disconnection people, I know they come back and get invited, but... I also know when they fake, like the other day blm~blm~whm~nin~thf~sam, best party set up in crawlers nest, we were going pretty quick when sam goes ok I think we should disband, I go no I am the leader and if you need to go I will find a replacement he goes oh nvm I will stay, ok then in middle of the fight d/c dont even come back I mean it was fine I got replacement.

number 1 here is signs of a fake dcer, when they unplug there ethereal cord from theyre dsl/cable, it will make them leave the pt and they dc, others give faulty info like.. oh crap brb I need to go get something out of my car d/c, a fake dcer will always make a excuse.

Here's a idea, instead of lieing try to say hey I need to go find me a replacement or disband party either way you save everyone some time, instead of us waiting there for you to return k thanks.

One more thing, if you could not get back on cause of something like a outage would be nice to send tell to that person stating hey I am sorry I dced couldnt come back because power or something else went wrong.

It'd be nice to do if I actually remembered the leader's name when I got power back the next day.

Look, the main reason you D/C from a party is because all the other members are idiots and the party is no good. If you tell them you think you should disband, they'll attempt to argue with you and claim "dis xp is teh secks!" When you end up leaving anyway, they get pissed (usually), and oftentimes tell their linkshell that you're an annoying little prick who won't take anything less than the perfect party. However, these idiots are also stupid enough that you can D/C intentionally without them ever noticing. If someone calls you on it later, a storm or "I spilled my beer on the power outlet!" is an excuse that they can't disprove.

When this happens to me, I check the logs in C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\TEMP. Generally you can check the most recent log file and get all the party members' names. I send a /tell to each member apologizing along the lines of, "(Experience points) (party) (Cape Terrigan) - (Connection lost) (I'm sorry.) ; ;" If it doesn't go through....oh well, I tried.

I'm not saying everyone's obligated to do this. It's just something I like to do because I generally feel really guilty about ruining the fun of good and skilled players.

If they're not good and skilled players, but were jerkoffs instead, then t(-_-t) I probably faked it.

Yeah, I knew that when posting. I figured all the PS2 users knew that I wasn't making that suggestion to them.

lol yeah right.

I dont think so, I stick to the party's no matter how crappy they are, just dieing 3 times is my limit, because of frustration.

Then I ask them to find me a replacement, they ask why then I said you kidding me I died 3 times I havent gained any exp and I am leaving, it's really easy to do that then to fake d/c.

ALT TAB is quicker than typing them you're leaving.

Better yet, if you use Windower, in the console type: bind ^x terminate. You can just hit CTRL+X anytime and the whole shebang shuts down, so you don't have to go through that boloney getting out of POL. I get the impression it's even faster than it would be to shut off a PS2.

You should try it, Zanon. It's fast and it saved you the lost XP of 3 deaths. It's awesome.

Bout 1-2 years ago they implemented the /shutdown code. Don't know if they did it for PC, but on PS2, it was a pain to do /logout and then logout of POL after that. With /shutdown you gotta do your normal rest for 30 seconds, than bam, PS2 shuts down, and your logged out of POL and all that good stuff.

Since I know most people who fake DC will check this thread in fear of seeing their name, I want to state the following:

I would *much* prefer, in place of "DCing," a mature apology upon logout from an unhappy party member. Then you are free to go.

If the XP sucks, or you died a lot and you want to go, just be honest and tell us.

From now on, if anyone is in a party with me and you have to go, just be honest, apologetic, and mature. This will eliminate the 10min wait people give DCs to possibly come back so we can immediately look for a new party member.

I'll even write the script for you:

"Hey guys, I truly am sorry but this isn't working too well. I am just going to (log off/disband) for now. Would you like me to send a few /t out for a replacement?"

OR

"Something important just came up IRL and I have to go immediately. I'm so sorry for the inconvienance, but I'd rather attend to this and leave you free to find another member than go afk for and unknown amount of time and let you down."

--------------
Sometimes sucking it up and being honest is better received than deceit.

We're talking about Fake DC-ing. Now, I don't know what your Fake DC credentials are, but anybody who knows anything about Fake DCing knows that you don't /logout, then crawl out of POL. You have to Alt+Tab to make it look convincing. /shutdown gets rid of the POL boloney, but leaves your PT suspicious, knowing that you were kneeling for 30 seconds.

XD

PROTIP: If you're gonna fake d/c, wait till the a few fights after your death(assuming you're leaving due to too many deaths), and all the while pretend that you don't mind having lost the xp(If you do actually care) then fake d/c at the tail end of a fight.
#50 Apr 16 2006 at 7:10 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah it annoys me when folks fake d/c. Worst ones are those that have just levelled and then pull the plug. Now that annoys me badly!!
