So, after a looong time away from this game, I decided I've had enough of those other MMOs and I'd like to return to my once and true love... FFXI. However, upon installation I updated PlayOnline and everything, and when I go to "Join PlayOnline!" I just get an error talking about how the server is busy or my network is screwed up. I've played before on this same computer and network, so I don't think that's the problem. Is it because they're doing that maintenance on the registry servers or whatever, or is this a common problem?
The specific error is POL-0011

Its probably because of the update they did yesterday. Give it a shot tonight or tomorrow Id say.

Well... it's been more than three months since I quit.. so I just discovered that I have to buy the game againjust to play again, which is the most retarded thing I've ever heard.
Yes, it would be because of the registration server maintenance, which lasted a from like 10pdt on the 18th to 6pdt on the 19th. Also, about having to buy the game again, did you check to see if you're eligible for the "Return to Vana'diel" campaign that's going on again? You should be able to use your old information if you are eligible.
