Saturday night. 9:00pm. Playonline CD is popped in to the 'puter. 3 hours later (and 14,000 files updated) a young Mithran thief named Wynt is born in the world of Bismarck, city of Windurst.
I missed the music, amazingly enough. People ***** about the game's music quite a bit, I've always found it enjoyable. The graphics too. Other games I've been playing just can't compare, FFXI truly is a beautiful game.
Believe it or not I still have a few friends left in the game, and 3 of them were online. Verdigo, Audion, and Dreamingfaith. DF has had control of Wintaru for as long as I've been away. Incredibly, he's kept almost everything the way it was. After talking with him, he's willing to let me have him back if I decide to stay after my free month is up. Amazing, what a great person. The more I play the more I think I may take him up on that offer.
After a few hours of fighting I am now level 5, and I turned in a rarab tail to get a justice badge, and promptly put it up for auction at 5000g. This morning it sold for 9000g o.Oa
I still have 27 days to make a decision if I'm going to stay or quit again, but so far it's looking good :)

-All mog safe upgrades
-Gobbie bags (all but the last one done)
-All Windurst missions completed
-Genkai's (Some people here might remember the Genkai run I organized, I must have drug 25 people through Xarcabard)
-Promy's
-Chocobo License
I'm sure there's more than that, but just looking at that list makes me tired :)
I'll probably play with Wynt just to see if I really will have the time to play again, and if I do I'll just take Wintaru back from DF.

I'm stuck in Windurst at the moment (which is a graveyard compared to what it used to be) so I'll probably be frolicking in Sarutabaruta :)

I still hang in the asylum, they all went to EQ2 and I doubt I could talk the Mrs. into yet another MMO :) Not sure I have her convinced to let me start FFXI again. When I told her I started my free month she sighed and said "But I liked having my husband back!". IF I do start up on Wintaru again, it will be a strictly minimal thing, I imagine it will take me months to finally hit 75 :)
Dreamingfaith has been amazing, he still has all of Wintaru's cash (not that there was much there, 200k or so I think) plus there was a bunch of money set aside in Renkeidorkz bank for members returning to use.
One thing I would like, if anyone sees a Beestinger for a reasonable price to let me know, the Windy AH is always out of those and I love using those :)

Personally I think you should play your free month. And when that's up if you decide you don't like it..don't leave until you give it a shot on Wintaru. Just thinking of all the stuff I would have to do over if I started again makes me want to vomet.

I think I have one on my mule I could sell you. I rarely/never use it so it just sits there. lol So, if you still need one, let me know and I'll sell it to you. I don't know how much they go for now, but I paid 10k for it awhile back. So, if it's more than 10k, I'd be willing to accept 10k. If less than 10k, I'll accept w/e it costs.
I need all the gil I can get to buy a Haubergeon. :(
