Several of us have been wondering about the populations of RMT newbies plaguing the servers. We've argued about how to correctly identify RMT, how to interfere effectively with RMT practices, and why RMT are leveling dozens (if not hundreds) of lowbie jobs.
Well, the last portion of this complex dynamic has been solved.
They're selling the accounts.
Now, for all of you "you have no way of knowing" people...
I was doing some cooking on Tuesday afternoon (had 25 stacks of taru rice across 3 mules, and decided to turn it into cash). I spend some time gathering up my materials, then dash off to Windy. I was in Woods, approaching my MH when I get a /tell.
Puyaya > Hey, would you mind helping out a fellow BST?
Me > What do you need help with?
Puyaya > Could you help me get some beastman seals?
Me > If you've been playing BST, you should be swimming in seals.

I asked myself, how can someone have leveled a job to 30+, gotten at least two advanced jobs, and not know how to farm seals? Further, what did he/she really think that a 71 BST could do to help a 6 BST get seals? Was I supposed to pull him along to Boyada Tree to kill some goobs? I was convinced this line of thinking was absurd, so the only "logical" conclusion was...
Me > When did you buy your account?
Puyaya > Two weeks ago.
Me > I strongly recommend you delete this account and start over.
Me > All the stuff you should have learned in your early levels, you haven't learned.
Puyaya > Okay.
She/he runs to the MH and changes to 1WAR/MNK (or MNK/WAR?).
And then I called a GM.
Now, before some of you get in a tissy about me calling a GM on some dummy, and maybe by "buying" and account he was referring to buying the game, and went 1-30 and got NIN and BST in 2 weeks... (yeah, if someone is completely 100% new, so new he doesn't even know how to get Beast Seals, and if you think he's gonna accomplish the previous statement, well, that's kinda dumb.)
Puyaya is the name of one of the "suspected RMT newbidiots" I saw around Delkfart's Tower a while back (probably about 3 weeks ago). In one of the parties with everyone ('cept the tank) in 6 pieces of lvl 1 gear.
So we know 2 things about RMT newbidiots.
1. They sell their account at some point in time (probably early-mid 30's? after getting some AJ's?)
2. They exhaust the beast seals acquired during the leveling process (or else have another character collect them all for use later)

That was something i strongly believed may have been happening as well. Some of the last run that included such RMT as Baseballboy, Goddesssv and whoever the rest were now speak very fluent English. I have /blisted several new suspected RMT due to the asking for gil and this was from some of those that are rank 1 bastok, level 47 whm with no sub, wearing level 10 armor and so forth.
I did run into a whole alliance of them trying to do their G1 a while back while I was helping a linkshell member do his G1 in Crawlers' Nest. I proceeded to do them a favor since they were wiping to the exorays and kill all the spawns in the area. I only managed to delay their ability to get past level 50 for about 20 minutes but I thoroughly enjoyed watching them die as they bounced hate from 1 taru to the next.
As for Puyaya, that was one of the allianced characters that was rank 1 in the dunes a while back. I think I watched their party while chatting in linkshell. It annoyed their level 24 whm enough that he started sending me tells in broken English asking what i was doing. I didn't tell him that I was laughing at them for the fact their party ranged from level 16-24 or that they could get more exp if he and the tank would get into a new party perhaps in Kazham. Instead I informed it was none of his business and continued standing where I was.
I watched 1 wipe of them then a swarm of more rank 1 characters came to where they were and that was when I decided to leave. It was quiet interesting to see that the same party was still there 3 days later at nearly the same levels.

That explains alot. Several days ago i got invited into a pt with Puyaya. he/she didn't even know that nins tanked. and this was a lvl 56-59 pt. I thought it was kind of odd but hey, I'm not gonna turn down exp, im a drg ya know >.>. He/she then overnuked excessively resulting in death. Also when our whm left he/she invited another nin. and when our blu left. Puyaya suggested getting another nin.
Anyway that was sort of off topic. Today i was helping some newbies around Sandy when i saw a pt of noob taru blms all on /follow to a taru whm nuking every orc in sight. first thing that jumped into my mind was "RMT".

Off topic but i have to tell it...
Saw a funny shout tonight in Whitegate saying gil-sellers were exp'ing in Korroloka Tunnel. Well it was the case and so 9 Adventurers went there to "farm"...
We had a lot of fun killing their exp mobs, some of them died and suddenly they zoned out.
We interpreted it as a little victory.
As they zoned out we got {Thank you.} tells from a normal exp-party what made me feel good :)
Thanks to the guys that took me with them! Had a good time tonight.

I was one of the adventurers who went "farming" in korroloka tunnel with you. what's funny about this whole thing is that it started with just 4 of us sitting around jueno lfp and shooting off fireworks. Who knew it'd end up as an RMT raid lmao. Good job to everyone who came with us. it was one hell of a riot.

Tonite, I'd just gotten back to Jeuno after leveling my whm to 34 & this guy sent me a tell asking for a tele.
I was like, ok sure, if you can wait for me to get 2 more levels...

I put another of the rank 1 level 40+ with no subjob on blist again. This one asked in broken English if I was busy and could help him. Before answering I checked then replied that I was in fact busy watching the wall in Jeuno since again chatting with linkshell in between crafting. He did ask me why I was doing that so I responded that watching walls was fun. Needless to say he asked for gil for gear and he got /blist add <name>.
While going to an XP party in Qufim last night on my 23 PLD, a level 19 Taru WHM asks me to powerlevel him.
Wait... Lvl 19? Asking a 23 PLD for a powerlevel? o.O;;;
All this in tells in broken English. >.>;
Plus this WHM had no armor on except for an Onion Rod and 2 Lvl 14 Onyx Rings.
Yeah, it does seem that they are exploring "new markets." Level a job to a certain level, load it with gil, and sell it to a site like IGE (which by the way, the parent company owns that and this website.) Not only is a gilselling LS, DragonGroup, monopolizing NMs in Sky and are there practically 24/7, it seems these gilsellers and their employers will stop at nothing to make a quick dollar.

When i was looking for a pt on my lvl 40 DRG a little while ago i get a /tell in broken english asking me to invite him into my pt. so i do a /sea all for him and see that he's a lvl 22 taru whm. I then notice he's standing near the guide stone as i was making my way back to my mog house. i examine him and notice he's got a lvl 1 rod, lvl 10 armor an empress band and many of his slots empty. so I tell him
{no thanks} and get another /tell saying "you pt with me no?" how stupid are these RMT newbs?

You know the group that level together that all the names start with Great, are they RMT?
I was in Qufim a few weeks ago soloing with my NPC as SMN32/WHM16, or close to that anyway. I wasn't /anon, 4 times, they sent me a /tell asking {Raise} {Can I have it?}. I kept saying {I don't have anything to give you}. In the end, I had to explain it as {Raise} WHM25 {job ability} me SMN32/WHM16 {I don't have anything to give you}. They finally got the message. /sigh

lol yep I remember Querla, that was fun ^^. sometimes it's hard to tell the n00bs from the RMTards, But i think i have a few ways of telling the difference.
1. if they pt in /anon.
2. suspicious names. Example. Tochoyochoyo (I've seen someone with that name)
3. if they have jobs higher than 20 with no sub.
4. if they all /follow a single pt member while exping.
5. if they exp in alliance.
6. if one d/cs, they all dc, definite red flag there.
That's only a few ways *I* use to try and seperate the noobs from the RMTards.

Hey, Umm wasnt Puyaya like an actually person.
I pt'd with them last night. I was invited to a pt that seemed like an ok set up, but it wasnt ideal for me as a cor. Cor/Whm/Smn/Blm/Nin/Mnk. Now from MP prospective. YES this is great. BUt melee rolls were just whatever I happened to hit.
Anyway. Puyaya asked if I could give cor's roll and would sit literally in spitting distance of raptors, who have that nasty virus thing. Of course I refused by letting him/her know i had better rolls to offer that pt. It just still seemed kinda odd. Nothing struck me as RMT.
But I just remember this Puyaya from long time ago...I think. And I dont think they were always RMT. Maybe...Ugh my memory is foggy

Probably started as an RMT then they sold the account to the person who plays the char now.
