Last Thursday I posted in the main forums about a problem with my password being rejected when I tried to log in. No one really responded, except for the oh that happened to me once, just try again..blah blah blah. I called SE and they needed me to give alot of personal info to verify who I am. I gave to them on Friday, and they reset my password. I went home, logged in and all my non rare/ex stuff was gone. Everything on my main character, everything in my mog safe, and all gil were taken. This was true for one of my mules.
Now I realize that if I had given my account info to anyone, or if I shared my computer with someone, or if I was using a third party software I could be at risk for this kind of thing. But I do not share my info with anyone, I do not use a shared computer with anyone and I do not use any third party software. No wondower, no nothing. I will be contacting SE during thier office hours tomorrow about this, but in the mean time I am left looking like I purchased my account from ebay.
I really don't excpect anything from SE, but I would like to pose a simple question: how could this happen? If I am a legitament player who doesn't cheat(ie third party programs..whatever), what assurances do I have that something like this will not happen again?
Has anyone had this happen to them recently? What, if anything, did SE do about it?

Though you may not have d/l any 3rd party programs it may be possible you acquired a keylogger through exchanging files with contacts in MSN or IM.
Getting hacked is hard and painful but try not to take it too much onto yourself..Remember it's still a game :( Wish you best luck in the recovery of your character's belongings.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Twick. I'd run it by S-E, if anything. Sure, it's a long shot, but hey, it's a shot, none the less.

If you look up your missing items and they have all been recently sold my the same character, that could your theif. Of course it could just be coincidence that someone else sold a lot of the same stuff around the same time yours was stolen, or perhaps the person who stole the items put them in bazaar for cheap and someone else bought and sold them on the AH. This is not any kind of guarantee that you'll figure out who it is, but every lead helps. If I lost all my stuff, I know I'd do everything I could to figure out where it went.
