i got a couple more that i remembered.
this one isnt a bay day of mine but i was with her and saw hers so ill tell it.
i got a tell from a 30ish whm one day several years ago asking me if i would help her kill leeches for the ruby for smn. i was bored and agreed to help the whm till she could get the ruby.
we goofed off korroloka most of the day, i was farming whatever i could kill and killing leeches for the whm as i went. i used to put in some very long hours at the game so all day wasnt unusual for me.
the whm was noobish, and got killed over and over trying to heal my pld who wasnt in need of cures. she was trying to pull her weight i guess, anyway i didnt keep crap from giants or bats.
after im guessing 8-10 hours the damn ruby dropped and the whm was really glad to see it. so glad that she lotted it, but didnt sort inventory. said a quick goodbye while i was finishing off the links i had gathered, and im guessing she assumed it had fell to her cause she used a warp scroll and left.
the ruby fell to me, and i got a histerical tell from the whm asking where her ruby was. i felt sorry for her because she had died so many times earning that ruby and lost it before she even realized it.

I she lotted, then warped and the ruby fell to you, it didn't go to her because you didn't pass it, not because her inventory was full. If your inventory is full, you get a message that says "Cannot lot. Your inventory is full."

in my defense, i was rather busy with a herd of mobs when she lotted and split.
i cant remember her name, i just remember she was a chic.

so yeah.. a couple of Ls mates were asking the other night if anyone could help out with the WHM af fight in Fei'yin. I said sure, we can handle it with the 3 of us easily. (75nin/drk, 75pld/nin, 75mnk/nin). so we head up there, pop the ******* and go to town on him. The mnk dies but we get the job done.
I went down the stairs, afk'd and went to dinner. When i come back, there is a smn and a whm carby kiting the same NM. I figure, well i did it with 3 melee, i've done it duo'd with a whm, surely we can do it with smn, whm, nin. So i /tell invite to join party. They invite me and i engage. The NM immediately starts casting Thundaga II which i toss stun at. Stun gets resisted, he drops thundaga II for about 700 then immediately throws dimensional death for another 700 and killing me. Not good times, and rather embarrasing on my part. So the whm raise I's me...she had raise II...
I get up and run into the room where carby is getting beat down. so to keep the smn and whm from getting murdered, i recast my shadows, toss Jubaku and kurayami on the NM and rest for a few ticks while carby tanks. all goes well for... about 20 secs when carby dies. Its night so i have my kyahan on and i start to kite him. Well apparently being far enough away that we couldnt see each other wasnt far enough cause i catch another thundaga II and die.
So, ***** this, i get raised and hit the tunnel to rest up. Weakness wears off and i go back at it. I debuff him, carby dies. He starts casting thundaga II, i try to stun, stun is resisted, thundaga II goes off and he immediately, without pause, dimensional deaths me again for another 700 and down i go.
I get raised yet again with the whm and smn laughing at me. and now i'm pretty pissed. so i start resting again, in the hallway. Now, my shadows are up, and i havent touched him since i died, but as soon as carby bites it, he comes waltzing down the hall, starts casting thundaga, which apparently i couldnt get away from in time and i die. The smn goes down then the whm.
so 4 deaths of mine, 1 each for the smn and whm ON AN NM I JUST BEAT DOWN NOT AN HOUR BEFORE.
so words to the wise, DO NOT DO THIS FIGHT ON DARKSDAY WITHOUT MORE PEOPLE.

hey aryden, i cant count the times ive soloed some nm that a pld/nin isnt supposed to be able to solo,
i also have died to friggin nms that were supposed to be easy kills sooo many times, and i always die in front of a crowd.
i remember i died to that nm antica blm and a whm/blm who wasnt over 65 soloed it after i died and made me look sad.
thats like having your little sister beat up the bully who was kicking your butt.

i think one of the worst expiernces i had in the game was getting G1 items.
i started on PC NA release, and when we hit 50 we didnt have 75s who could escort us and kill the mobs for us.
we had to make G1 parties, and the eldimine one we had to make at the least a 12 player alliance so we wouldnt wipe every couple minutes.
when an item dropped all the players needed it and everyone lotted for it. whoever won would leave the pt and go after the other items. they had to be replaced so you would have to get another player who needed the item.
it took me 3 weeks to get the papruys alone, i think i spent around a month and a half trying to break 50.
i remember one time someone talked a couple 65s they knew into helping us and i still didnt get a drop that day, but for the most part we did it the hard way.

I remember the pain that was G1. I was right there in the same boat with you. And i had to do it 3 times for 3 different accounts. Also remember having an entire alliance wipe to the G2 mobs when catching an unlucky -ga to the face.

I did something really bad once, to a guy who was really annoying in an xp pt once.
when the first time we saw the new years festival, i think it was monkeys... might have been fenrir.. anyway i was in a qufim pt and we had this guy who never stopped bragging on his stuff.
i was lvling pld up past 25 or 30 at the time, and i wasnt super decked out in the latest pimp for plds who make 500k a year... but i wasnt gimped by a long shot.
this guy who had +1 stuff way back when regular +1 beetle harness was sorta rare. this was even befor gil farmers, so he didnt buy it with real money, but he had help getting it all im sure.
as the pt went on all we heard was him criticising the other melee (i think he even told me i needed more attack gear or something as a pld) and he talked smack to anyone who even passed by.
i was so sick of hearing him brag on his +1 armor and +1 attack earings and how bad his braveheart great sword was after maybe an hr or 2.
then we moved to new site and thats when he spotted the new years monkeys for the first time.
he asked what they were and back then they were kinda brand new and no one was quite certain what they did exactly. we knew if you traded them junk, they would cast spikes and stuff on you.
no one in the pt answered him when he asked a second time, and i saw a chance to shut him up.
i told him about how you could trade items to them and get spells and stuff casted on you, and then i told him "IF YOU TRADE YOUR BRAVEHEART GREATSWORD TO THEM YOU WILL GET A BRAVEHEART +1 BACK"
he chased them down, and was dissapearing from unequiping his weapon.
i realized i was probably about to meet another GM over that so i popped an instant warp scroll and unplugged my modem and stayed offline for like 4 days.
the last thing i remember he sent was a tell saying something like "so how do i get it back from him now?"
ive been harsh to new guys in a LS or rode past a noob who died at the jeuno zone trying to make it there for the first time, and been too busy to hop off and raise him. And i did these things rarely and felt bad later for it.
but this guy i still remember not likeing him to this day, and i still have no sympathy for him. he was that much of a smartass braggart.
i remember seeing him for maybe another month or so and he left the game i guess.
i dunno, i guess i should feel bad but i hated the guy and still think he deserved it.
