I finally got my WHM to 37 (FINALLY!) so I am now going to go back to leveling my Bard. It is currently level 60. I'm looking for some advice from knowledgeable Bard's out there on what my future equip should be. I'll detail below what I am currently using. Any critiques would be most appreciated!

I'm well aware that there are many changes I can make to what I currently have. However, due to several factors (i.e. I last played Bard 1 year ago, lack of funds and lack of item availability) I was forced to go with certain mediocre pieces over others that are more preferable. This is why, since it has been a year that I would like honest critiques on what pieces can be swapped for better ones, also why they are better and also if there are any additional pieces I need for certain xp situations.

I don't know an awful lot about BRD, but seems you could use a Corsette/+1 on your waist for a big CHR boost. The HQ runs about 30k, NQ 7k so you could sell your Merc Captains belt, and then you are only 20k short. The boost is significant, +6 from the HQ Corsette, +5 from the NQ. It's a worthwhile investment.
A nice CHR head piece is the noble's ribbon, again a nice CHR boost for a low price. That will set you back 10k.
So selling 1 item and raising 30k could see a +8 boost in the amount of CHR you can swap in for songs, from slots that are not currently being used for much else.
Like I say, I am no expert on BRD by any stretch. Maybe run the gauntlet and post this over on the BRD forums? You will likely get some better suggestions from them regarding XP party gear and other alternatives that may even be Rare/Ex. I know that one of the NM's in Sea Serpent Grotto drops a decent BRD body.

Yea it is the Minstrel's. I need friends to help camp it. :) I'm still two levels short to wear it. Thanks for the advice though, I'll look into those pieces! I'm off to the Bard forums now. I hope they are friendly!
Gam if you need any help with Novv shoot me a /tell, I pwn that guy all the time and it's great scroll farming down there. Plus we can catch up on old times.
If I were you, I'd find a song or two that you can cast regularly in EXP to skill String. I used string whenever possible when leveling BRD just because I hear torture stories about skilling it. It'll also come in handy when you need to AoE sleep mobs with Nursemaid's Harp.
For neck, look at doing the Star Necklace series of quests. You need to start with this quest http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?fquest=29 and you get the item on the 5th quest, crying over onions. Also, this series of quests are pretty entertaining.
I'm not sure what level the Wind and String torques are, but those are a pretty big upgrade you could consider. I'm not sure of the price, hopefully you arent looking at a 700K bill like Enfeebling Torque >.<
BRD AF is sort of horrible, but you have some relatively cheap replacements that will be available to you in a few levels. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you along the way.

I was looking at the Star Necklace too! I'll just have to get over my laziness to do quests that involve EX item acquiring, LOL.
Thanks for the Harp advice. It's definitely something I'm slacking on. My other BRD skills are way more than maxed with the gear I have on but that one is way sub-par. I'll have to look at what songs use those. :) Heck, I wouldn't mind if it was something I could just stand around and cast. Wouldn't bother me one bit to spend time skilling it up in preparation for later 'zomgtheyalllinked' sleepage'ga!

I guess the biggest staple piece that I would suggest is would be the infamous Monster Signa. These days its really not extremely overcamped or overpriced. I remember many many years ago when I used to play this staff would go for over 200k on Kujata. Now that ive returned and seen this great weapon down to 50k on Bismark really makes me wanna play my bard more. +8 Cha is hard to pass up. Anyway Im sure there are more upgrades out there but this was the biggest that stood out to me when you described your current gear.
