With the changing of events, the convenience of pickup groups, and the re-discovery of the utility of solo play, I've found myself often online alone with no one to talk to in my linkshell since it was not a formal "event" time and I play a bit earlier than a lot of my friends. I have not had much luck with social linkshell, as those tend to also try to have scheduled events and people demand you drop everything to help with mundane tasks.
FFXI is lonely with no people.
So I've decided to create an experimental social linkshell, Just Talk.
Just Talk is a linkshell for people who want someone to converse with, to ask for advice, or just to talk about where their adventures are taking them in Vana'Diel and in real life.
There are no events.
There are no schedules. No forums. Nothing at all except a pure conversation channel.
You cannot demand help for your random 6man BCNM, and then get upset when people don't drop everything to assist you. That's not the purpose of the linkshell. You can mention what you're doing, and ask if anyone is interested, or mention other shouts for activities you see occurring in Port Jeuno or elsewhere.
You can also offer assistance if someone mentions they are having trouble soloing or duoing something. And of course, the person you are offering to help is free to accept or decline. A lot of us are trying to push the boundaries of what we can do by ourselves, but after the 5th time dying to a stupid NM in Abyssea we'd be grateful for someone at our back.
Just Talk is open to all levels of solo and duo player teams. Since it is not an HNM or event shell, there should be no restrictions or interference with more formal event shells (and if those shells give you **** for being in a talk-only linkshell, you probably need to reconsider being in that shell with such ***-holes in the first place.)
Please see Catwho for a pearl.
