Here's one of my favorite FFXI stories, it's hard to explain in words, but the author did an excellent job:

Also, the link right at the top of the post is the Japanese video, but here's an English translation of it, still in video form:

There you go!

Enjoy ^_^

I'm still crying for that little taru...*sniffle*

I'm still too low level for this but it's like...I just feel so sad for the taru WHM...I mean even though it's a game, there's a bond that mont many things can top, even in reality....it's just something that I've never seen before, anywhere....god I love this game!

I saw a link to this story on playstation.com. I passed it along to my LS mates. Yeah its only a game but a common bond between those you are with is formed even if you do not realize it. Those that give to those around them receive the greatest reward in that bond between brothers. I really loved this story because it holds so much truth to it. Truth that doesnt simply apply to this game only but also IRL.

I can only hope that during my journeys through Vana'diel that I can find friends who will touch me the way this story did.

Wow Its funny seeing a bunch of names u recognize....and the bond u grow to share with people u dont even know....We have all come a long way since Oct 30 last year (US release) and have met a lot of great people along the way. It has been a great experience for me and i hope to meet many more great people in days to come.

Whenever I see this posted somewhere I look at it again and it touches me all over again.

It also makes me feel darn lucky that most all of the people I met when starting out are still together in a great linkshell.

And I still stop to look at the rainbows.^^

When I joined this game I had no friends or anyone to help. But it only took a week to find some. Jhunwung was one of the first. I had wanted to pt with Jhun through the dunes but she was set on exploring and seeing everything she could see. I should of gone with her but I wasnt an explorer then.

Ive changed alot and have become an adventurer in this game. It isnt all about leveling (though I like to get stronger). Its also about meeting people and having fun. A game without fun isnt a game to be played.

I enjoyed that story and it puts some things into perspective. Keeping friends is harder than it seems. Its easy to drift apart when a a day turns into a couple and then weeks without a single tell. Anywho, I didnt cry or anything, but it was very heart warming.

In many ways, this emulates life. People lose touch with those who matter most. Many times, we dont realize the worth of those friendships till their gone....

This kinda thing actually happened between me and a RL friend. We used to adventure all over, see everything. but sadly now all he does is lvl. I started 6 months before him. He is now 70 and I am only 50.
