gil scammersFollow

nowadays, i have a select few that i would consider lending gil/gear to- mostly LS mates who just come off as being nice people and honorbound to pay that debt back one way or another.

i have borrowed gil before (in huge amounts...) but always have a 1 week max rule--- i can pretty much powerfarm if need be and i borrow gil if there is a rare item that shows up on the AH that i know would be gone if i do not seize the opportunity ASAP.
if i know i can not pay them back in a week then i would suck it up and just wait till the next time it shows up.

On another note, i completely agree with not giving noobs gil. The reason, is mainly because gil is NOT THAT HARD to make at those early levels if you put the time into it. Can't get your chainmail? well, spend a day farming cystals and bees, and silks... one stupid day out off the week, and you will be able to afford something. When i was starting out i never asked. begged for anything- i worked my butt off to EARN (yes such a foreign concept to a lot of people nowadays) yes EARN the gil to pay for my stuff.

This concept applies to powerleveling. A lot of people seem to think that PLing is a requirement to get to higher levels, so they beg and plea and scam their way into getting a PL. What this creates are players who do NOT know how to play their jobs- and this is evident with non-vokers, non-healers etc.

IMHO, if you are a scammer in game, you are basically just revealing a side of your IRL self. You are basically an ingame representation of how messed up society can be by manifesting your crappy behavior while making us honest folk suffer.

Good thing that there are these forums that can keep us abreast with the long list of crappy players and gil scammers...
