FFXI DictionaryFollow

OK, It's probably right in front of my face.. but is there an FFXI dictionary on this site? At lvl 40 you start hearing about things for Cofer and Genkai and Sky and Dynamis and on and on and on. I;m sure they are just same words for other things I know about but after hearing "look it up" can't find a place to do so.



See.. this is what pi$$es me off about this game.
I got rated down for asking a simple question... totally reflects some of the attitudes in the game.

Coffers are like treasure chests just rarer, they require coffer keys which drop off harder mobs than chest keys. You will find you AF (Artifact) equipment specific to your job are often held in coffers.

Genkai is a Romaji word meaning limit or Boundary, it is used to refer to the quests you need to break the level limit cap at levels 50,55,60,65 and 70 (knowna s Genkai 1, genkai 2 etc)

Dynamis is a high level 70+ area of the game which was introduced, don't know much more about it except you get your second set of Artifact items there.

Sky is an area unlocked by doing Zilart missions again a high level area.

Romaji is actually Romanji, which is translating written Japanese language into written English language. While it's still Japanese, it's easier to read and make sense of than learning a whole new alphabet.

Renkai is the Japanese term for skillchain, though it's similarity with Genkai makes me think it really means Limit Break, or something like that ^^;

The only other Japanese term that I can think of is fuidama, which is Sneak Attack/Trick Attack.

Other interesting ones to be added that is not asked by OP but it is commonly seen in the game:

w = Japanese lol
orz = a guy kneeling down and workshiping someone -.-;
MPK = Mob Player Kill
RMT = Real money trade
D2 = Warp II

Most Dyanmis LS will not invite you until you hit level 70. I think you can start to try Dyanmis at level 65 if you are a mage, but you are proably going to have a hard time just to stay alive.

I personally don't know whether can I ever make up to 70+. It just takes too much time, and I am quite busy with real life.
Anyway, my goal is Sky Access. (Rant stops here)

Other terms that I come into my mind...

SJ = Subjob
GC = Gate Crystal
CN = Crawler's Nest

There are also some server specific acryonms -- usually short forms of some major LSs.
